I could see a Brandon Hagel price making sense. A pile of farm team trash and 2x 1sts, unprotected. Columbus takes the gamble that Tampa falls into the toilet in the years they have those picks.

Keep in mind that deal would bake into it the development years CBJ spent on Johnson and a built in bet against Johnson working out and Tampa falling on hard times.

He hasn't entered the convo because no Jackets fan is going to be enticed to move KJ by Isaac Howard's presence in a deal. He's just not a piece they'd want. Maybe something with Geekie+ would get the convo going, but regardless the Jackets aren't at a point where they would move the player.
Oh yeah, I forgot they got Geekie in the Sergachev trade. Start there. Although then the question is why not just keep Geekie and make no trade? I guess if the Bolts want a roster player now? There you go, KJ + 5th for Geekie + Howard.

We're past the point of wanting picks. We need NHL ready players now. KJ is just now starting to enter his prime(still a year or two off), we're not looking to move quality pieces away for darts at the board. If anything we're looking to package quantity for a quality piece. Hagel ain't it.

the jackets (under jarmo) reportedly wanted geekie in the draft, but he was taken a pick before theirs (which they used on mateychuk)

that said, the time to target geekie as an acquisition was probably before they made the lindstrom pick. now? with fantilli, lindstrom, voronkov and sillinger all in the system, plus a long-term deal for monahan, it doesn't make sense to add another unproven center.

the only KJ move that would make sense would bring back either an established and cost-controlled top 6 wing or top 4 defenseman with upside. only guy who fits that bill on tampa is hagel.

in other words: the price for tampa to get johnson is brandon hagel.

Tampa is in need of some younger talent and Johnson had a down year and even spent some time in the AHL last year after putting up 40 points the year prior. What would be a realistic value for him? Would something around Perbix and 2 2nds be of interest?

At the very least make it a Ryder, Halak and a 2nd trade value, sheesh.

Hmmm, I think Columbus could use a guy like Kappo Krappo.

We would not trade Hagel anyways, but fyi he would have led by a lot your team in points last year. And that's with no PP time.
Show some respect

And?

Gaudreau scored 115 points on Calgary and then hasn't put up more than 60 since joining Columbus. And it wasn't because Johnny suddenly sucks at hockey.
