GDT: Kent Hughes Mid-Season Presser (11:30AM ET)

On Reinbacher:

We’re not worried about him. Nothing has changed. Short term, losing a season is difficult, but like Dach, we see that it’s possible but takes time to get back to where you want to be (development wise). We wanted Reinbacher to be around the team to learn how to be a professional so in that way it’s not a “lost” season.

Eesh...that one was a good question...that Hughes didn't like or know how to answer...

They were criticized by certain mainstream media (not sports-related media). As Hughes answered when asked, the criticism was more by political pundits. But that they were there for work and that they weren't the only NHL team there.
Criticized for what? Do they criticize all the Canadians playing in the KHL?

Asked if we will see Primeau in Montreal again, he said Monty had played 31/40 games and that the coaching staff had decided to ride Monty and Primeau did not have the start he would have liked.

I am guessing is the "You traded Allen to play Primeau, you traded away defenders to play Barron" etc..
I think he wanted either Mailloux or RB to graduate. And it didn’t happen. He would obviously not say that publicly.

Who just asked that question about having too much faith in Barron and primeau and if it was Kent's fault

What a motherf***ing snake, I hope Kent remembers that guy

HE JUST REPEATED THE QUESTION TOO WOW
Why? How was it not a good question? It's actually the only question that was not a softball question. And it's even easy to answer....Yeah, well at the time we loved Justin size and skating abilities and we thought we could bring him to another step. And as far as Allen for Primeau, well it takes a much longer time to evaluate goalies and we dind't want to lose Primeau for nothing.

I think the unease is because he had never slotted Barron there as a regular this season.

primeau nobody wanted
When the decision to let go Allen was done, nobody knows if he had interest around the league. If Hughes would have known there was no interest, he would have kept Allen and send Primeau down and not go out of his way to acquire Connor Hughes.

Anyway, there is never anything important. It won't change with this one. Actions are important. Let's see how they take the next step.

About Barron and Primeau. I think it was a fair question. And easily to respond as well but Hughes just didn't want to.
It was a veiled shot at Kent's capabilities as a GM and Kent knew it
It was a piece of shit sleaze ball way of saying 'so they not working out was your fault to begin with?'

He's doing a fine job,
Nobody hits at 1.000%.

On the team overall:

Felt acquiring a defenseman that could play against top competition (MacKinnon, McDavid, Matthews were listed as examples) was necessary. Would also allow Guhle to unlock more potential (*im assuming by playing on his natural side but that’s just my interpretation of it).

Goes on to say that its a process for the team to come together, and they simply needed time for chemistry to develop in the dressing room. It’s important, especially in hockey for a team to develop together.

I like Kent Hughes, but dude will squirm his away from admiting to any mistakes.

The Barron signing and letting go of kova was a flop. You recognized he’s was no good and made a move. Let’s be real here.
Primeau was a mistake as well. The question being asked and he would refuse to acknowledge that he had to make a change.

And the staunch defense of Dach is clear favouritism.

He can still admit he f***ed up.
