This is my favorite Kenny Albert radio call, anybody that says he doesn’t get excited on calls, listen to this. I actually think he’s gotten better at that since then imo:

The logical choice. I know a lot of people view him as robotic but he loves the Rangers and he wants the job. He'll get better at banter.

by the way, years ago I heard an interview with Kenny where he said he preferred doing NYR games over even doing the super bowl

I am unjazzed about this.

Kenny calls a good game but the banter won't be the same.

He also doesn’t have an exciting voice like Sam does.

Part of the appeal of a great announcer is that your voice can amp up the excitement in what the viewer is watching. Sam could do it. Gary Thorne could do it. Sean McDonagh sucks at it.

Kenny is ok. But there’s more to being a good announcer than technical proficiency. Oh well.

but was told Faust will be main radio PBP guy,
he'll do radio when Kenny is there, will move to TV when Kenny away

big relief to me that main radio voice won't be LaGreca

and agree with folks above, Joe gotta go soon
so many games he adds next to nothing, just repeats his go-to phrases - "hard working team" "an even better person"
sometimes he has good game, reminds us how, early in his NYR tenure, he could see what happened in the action and add value often
but those are fewer than ever

Watching the sam and JD broadcast reminded me of this. It was great having the color guy teaching us hockey as he described the game

It needs to be a former Ranger again. Callahan would be a very good choice in my opinion. Dominic Moore too. He's with Utah now as their analyst.
