Confirmed with Link: Kenny Albert to Replace Sam Rosen

I am unjazzed about this.

Kenny calls a good game but the banter won't be the same.
Of course, there is only one Sam Rosen. And he's a legend to all of us.

But if given enough time, at some point, Albert may loosen up and have some good banter too. You never know.

I don't love the timbre of Kenny Albert's voice (it sounds a bit forced) but he's fast and fluid in keeping up with the action.

He can also yell "score" without sounding like a snooze fest too.

Thinking about who else is out there, this was easily a great choice.

NYPost article is behind paywall, so i couldn't read it
but was told Faust will be main radio PBP guy,
he'll do radio when Kenny is there, will move to TV when Kenny away

big relief to me that main radio voice won't be LaGreca

and agree with folks above, Joe gotta go soon
so many games he adds next to nothing, just repeats his go-to phrases - "hard working team" "an even better person"
sometimes he has good game, reminds us how, early in his NYR tenure, he could see what happened in the action and add value often
but those are fewer than ever

Can we at least record Sam’s voice for the power play goals or maybe at least to play it in the arena after they score one. (Don’t know who originally mentioned it but who ever it was it was a good idea). Nonetheless I do like Kenny’s game calling.
They did this recently. Im assuming it’s going to be a mainstay.

When Joe retires it’ll probably be Boyle. They seem to be grooming him for the role.

I like Kenny,I know not everyone will but he's a pro and calls a good game. He's obviously not a real "replacement", he's just taking over and will try to make the calls his own.

e: I don't think he's unemotional, he gets into it, but people gonna have different opinions

No replacing Sam but Kenny loves the team, knows the team, and he makes great calls too. Lowkey would've preferred Dave Maloney subbed in for Joe. Micheletti seems really nice and he and Sam had that happy grandpa pair thing but hes not a good 'analyst' and I like Dave much more

I like Dave better on radio personally, he can yell at the officials and be somewhat critical when the team isn’t playing well. On TV, he’s gonna be very partial because of how they want their announcers to be positive for the most part.

Great hire.

I think we'll see a more banterly Albert settle in over the next few years.

He's been an every-sport national broadcast horse for the past 15 years. Paid his dues, a rare nepotistic hire who has earned his gigs.

Looking forward to Joe moving on to grazing pastures and bringing a fresh partner for Kenny.

Not surprising, but, no offence to Kenny Albert, an uninspiring choice. More of the same. This hire epitomizes the whole organization. Stick with old veteran people. Yeehaw.

They should've hired someone young and up and coming.

It looks like Boyle is being prepared for that.

I'm not sure. He hasn't done color yet. He has done the Giannone role between the benches a handful of times. I see him more as a studio guy like Vally and Hank. If we see Boyle do some games for Micheletti next season then we can talk about being the heir to that seat.

I like what they’re doing. I like Kenny (even going back to the cup year on radio). Nice to have Faust on radio and standby for TV.

Sam came in 1982 at 35 but wasn’t full time immediately. Maybe they’ll do something similar now

He's familiar of course. I listened to a lot of radio broadcasts back in the day when a lot of games were blacked out before illegal streams took off.

It's just that we need more than just Joe for color. We need a verbal between the benches commentator on the fairly regular, because I just don't learn anything new about the game or players from Micheletti and it's been many many seasons since I have.

Kenny has so many other commitments, they did a good job getting Faust as the backup.

Kenny will miss every weekend game during the NFL season, and obviously his TNT responsibilities.

I'm surprised so many people are down on this. I love Kenny, I think he does a wonderful job when he's on TV. He's also basically a placeholder for a few seasons until he hangs them up himself.
Seriously, Kenny’s one of the best. This was an all time call:
