Colony Grill pizza is fine - it’s good bar style pizza. But we’re not talking New Haven quality pizza here.
Freed up money to overpay the guy that demanded to be the highest player on the team then didn’t come close to putting his money where his mouth was. Right.i voted keep drury and fire laviolette,... only because the push to dump Goodrow and Trouba out the door was to free up $$ to sign Igor.
This move level set the team and the vets were heartbroken.
Drury has this offseasn to move the malcontents.
Are Zibs and CK choosing to decline or is it age/injury catching up to over 30 guys?Honestly I think the blame for this season lies first and foremost at the feet of the vets. There were long stretches of the season where Panarin was the only veteran skater who gave any sort of a shit (with allowances to Trocheck being hurt). Guys like Kreider, Zibanejad, Trouba? They were the ones who chose to torpedo this season because they were unhappy with the front office holding them accountable.
In a vacuum, the Laviolette choice made some sense at the time. Take a Gallant, who got the team into a decent spot but really was poor tactically. And upgrade on what was Gallant's biggest weakness, see if that puts them over the top. As it turns out, it didn't, but I think it was a worthwhile gamble to make on a team that looked like a few lucky breaks from making the Finals.
I don't have a ton of confidence in Drury, but I have less in both the veteran core and Laviolette, and if 2 of the 3 need to go, it's those 2 and not him.
Neither were ever true first liners on a Cup contender and now time has caught them. Are Zibs and CK choosing to decline or is it age/injury catching up to over 30 guys?
Today was all about establishing al Kreider and Zibanejihad as two of the biggest evils on this team
There was no "roster construction" -- that's been the problem for decades. The entire front office and coaching staff needs to be axed. The organization needs a new vision entirely. Whatever the thought process is in terms of roster construction is completely misguided.
I will explain myself. If you think either should be kept, you better f'n explain yourself
He gets to hire one without loser kreider on the team to ruin the coach.Drury does not get to hire a THIRD coach. They both need to get the fu*k out.
LOL.He gets to hire one without loser kreider on the team to ruin the coach.
He was one of the only guys in hockey, maybe the only guy in hockey, that had both the respect and balls to tell Dolan to f*** off. And he did. Slats had his faults, as all GMs do, but he pulled the trigger when it was the right time, and that's maybe the best quality a GM can have.Lavi is almost 100% gone. Maybe 99.87% gone.
Not sure about Drury. I think he tried to change this going back to last summer. My concern with Drury isn't his past moves. My concern would be is he the guy to rebuild the team for the future.
Bash me all you want. I miss Slats![]()
I still think it's a case of the team not being as good many people believed. Many of the players were over achievers or had career years. How many times over the last 4-5 seasons have we commented on the fact that (a) they were bad at fundamentals, (b) were bad playing 5-on-5, (c) were softer than melted butter making them easy to play against and (d) were too dependent on the PP and goaltending. Are Zibs and CK choosing to decline or is it age/injury catching up to over 30 guys?
Thats it exactly it. I predicted we would fall back to earth last summer. I didn't know it would be so hard a drop but when your top 6 are over 30 its unlikely they would match their career years. We gave it everything we had last season like a boxer punching himself out by round 6, then crashing afterwards.I still think it's a case of the team not being as good many people believed. Agreed......for me, the biggest red flag were all those comeback wins.....that is not the sign of a good team.Thats it exactly it. I predicted we would fall back to earth last summer.
