Keep Brown or Let him go?

We got an elite 3rd/4th liner in the playoffs for nothing. Zero. Nada. He had zero impact on our cap this year. By ANY objective analysis it has turned out as good as it possibly could have. To deny that is to bitch for bitching sake. Because you want to be right.

In the playoffs, he's been great. But if Oilers failed to make the playoffs(which was close), it would have been pretty bad. It's one of those things. You usually wish players could be consistent all the time.

Still, it's good to see Brown doing well, since I have a bit of a soft spot for him since I feel like he never got credit even when he was performing well, especially with the Senators. He'll never be that player again, but just doing his job as a 3rd-liner PK specialist is all that can be asked of him, and he's been a part of the Oilers' unbelievable PK squad in the playoffs thus far.

Rather the guys show up when it matters the most. That and Brown was doing quite well towards the end of the season and it appears is injury is behind him now.

You could probably get him around league min-1.25m for about 3-4 years and I think you do it for PK ability alone and if his scoring touch returns call it a bonus. Him and Janmark need to be back.

It was close? They were 12 points ahead of 9th.

I would say that Brown and his line have been the teams 3rd line.
They (Brown, Henrique and Janmark) can be used in any situation and still dictate the play.
They have been much more reliable and much more impactful than any other bottom 6 line Knoblauch has put together and Brown has been a big part of that.

Yes, they are above McLeod, Ryan, and whoever plays with them.

They should be playing 4 on 5 the entire season. Each would have 20 goals.

Yup....he is a very different player now. Also helps to play him on his strengths as a grinding defensive forward who contributes offensively on occasion.

I imagine some mental challenges as well. Wouldn't be the first time. I can kind of relate just in that when I blew out my ankle in summer after Grade 10 playing basketball, it took me over a year to really return to feeling comfortable and not hesitant on the court. Knee injuries can be intense, coupled with I'm sure frustration over not producing on the score sheet.

Important to remember the players are still human beings haha.

Believe it was Ferraro who said based on experience at the start of the year that Brown's injury isn't something you just recover from even if everything is good physically (which can also take a while). Mentally after a year of rehab it can be difficult to risk taking an explosive step.
