Dubas likes the style they play, if he didn't, he would have moved on from one or two of them. Even Keefe himself, he was brought in to be a sweetheart to the players in contrast to Babcock. So there's nobody in that room that will take charge and show these guys how to play the right way or administer any consequences. These guys have been in the league long enough, they are what they are.

Shanahan says he doesn’t watch the games for the big hit recently and right after Bogosian and Simmonds were acquired. Kind of thought, yeah wonderful shanny you clown. Kadri trade was a bad look for both Shanny and Dubas. They didn’t have to trade him. They definitely didn’t have to rush it. Horrible trade and screwed the team.

Screwed the team? Yup, window closed now!!!! Forever, never going to recover from that one.

Please describe what happened behind closed doors, with the multiple meetings with Shanahan, Dubas, Wilson, Burke, Eakins, Lou, and so on, about his internal discipline issues, and immaturity? Please tell us, exactly happened with the team, that lead to the decision making, to trade him.

Kadri trade, was a bad look for Kadri. Kadri traded himself.

They traded him, 2.5 months after his final suspensions.... 2.5 months is plenty of time to explore what your options were. That's hardly a rush job. TWO AND A HALF MONTHS.

WE can stick our head in the sand all we want, and ignore all realities here, but Kadri wasn't going to be on the team come October 1st, so that's your window to trade him. Between the end of the Leafs season, and the start of the next one, the sooner you can get that done, the better the result is likely going to be. You try and trade him in September, when most teams have finalized a roster, there will be less options. The return was underwhelming, but... it filled the needs, and Kadri vetoed the other public trade.... given his 10 team NTC, and teams who didn't need a 2C, the options would have been limited.

It will be so funny if the owners ended up splitting into two groups, one that willing to pay its players and the other don’t. Then only a few teams ended up playing the season and Leafs ended up winning the Cup, as they sign all the good unsigned UFAs to 800k deal for a year.

Kerfoot instead of Kadri. Yeah thats a screwing. Liljigren lost development time with Barrie of all defensemen.That couldn’t have been a worse type of defenseman for our needs to picknup. He was terrible at defense 6 years ago and he was every bit as bad last year as he was then. Barrie has never gotten better defensively. Soft and useless. Then we got to pay a higher cap hit for that regression. You are darn right it hurt the team. The players liked Kadri lots in that room.

Kadri got suspended twice and cost the team. Kerfoot also was more effective then Kadri in the playoffs.
Lilly didn't lose development time. What are you talking about? He wasn't ready then and might not be ready now. Barrie didn't make him lose time.
If Barrie is bad and useless? Why was he the Avs best defenceman in the playoffs? He isn't bad. We just set unrealistic expectations on players.
Did the players like Kadri when he suspended himself?
 
Not sure why people still talk about Kadri here. He again showed with the Avs he can't be trusted in the playoffs. He turned the puck over on the tying goal, and lost his man on the winning goal. We actually didn't lose a lot by trading him.

First one Debrusk waits for it,eaits for it as he is backchecking and waits for it and drops the hammer on Marleau and drives him in to the open station perfectly timed and coasted just a bit to time it. Kadri checks Marleau and takes Debrusks head off with a crosscheck when Chara is 10 feet away. Awesome. Kadri done the same to this clown running a elbow in to Marner with a charge

I liked both.

He needs to control his emotions better. He hurt the team and we ended up losing in the series. Kadri traded because of his own actions.

Yeah and he was worth more. I think Kadri would have gotten more for himself if he was doing the deal :)

Liljegren lost development time? What, he couldn't play for the Marlies last year? Really?

I mean, if the guy was ready to play in the NHL, he would have forced his way on... he wasn't. He likely isn't ready to start this year either... Have patience, let them develop properly, until they force their way into the lineup. You want a great team, you complain about the defense, and yet you want players who aren't ready on a competitive team, in the lineup at the same time??

So you expected to get a better C than Kerfoot, and also a stop gap RHD? But you also expected the cap hit, on that better 3C, to be less than $3.5 million (because that's too much for a 3C)? Kadri should have been kept at $4.x... yet $3.5 million is too much for a 3C... I mean, the contradictions spin the mind.

Kadri was liked in the room, and every player in that room understood exactly why he was traded... to a man.

This happens two years ago, when there wasn't anyone at Barrie's cost as a free agent, that would have made the team any better... Dubas has patience, gets his guy he wanted from the beginning, in Brodie, the teams cap compliant, and the boo birds still whine. I don't know why people can't see the big picture here.... Kadri had to be moved, we got a competent 3C, and a stop gap RHD, that wasn't ideal for the team. Now we have the 3C, and the RD he wanted. Kadri's behaviour made him an easy move, and we all knew the team needed to move a body for cap reasons anyway. Kadri we've been over, the problems for eight years, the public announcements of his lack of maturity...

Kadri's gone, for multiple reasons... it's time to move on, let go.
Barrie is gone, no longer our problem... it's time to move on, let go.
Brodie, and excellent RD, is here, embrace that.
Kerfoot is a reasonable 3C, that showed signs in the playins.... let's hope he's that guy, but with the offense he's shown at times.

Well he played 11 games with the Leafs. Why was he in the lineup if he was not good enough. Thats on the G.M too. Why did Dubas leave the defense so bad and play Liljigren. You contradict yourself much
 
Keefe will like Brodie and Bogosian much better than Ceci/Barrie. Its just so much better depth. Finally the paperboy is catching on.

He was in the lineup due to injuries. Remember, there were lots of injuries last year???

He wasn't good enough to stay in full time... His time with the Leafs, identified the areas he needs to continue to work on. It's how prospects grow, and it's how you tell if they are ready.
When players that are currently better came back, he went back to the Marlies... that is how this works.

You do realize the depth issue comes from the GM before Dubas, right?

The fact that Dubas got Tavares allowed use to be okay when Matthews got hurt a year before.

The fact that Dubas acquired Barrie allowed us to not completely fall apart when Muzzin and Rielly were injured.

The old regime were the ones that really didn't provide much NHL depth at the farm level...

Our defense has sucked since Horton passed on ... we all have to be honest ... it is an org blame issue and it is multi generational / multi ownership

Neither was his trade for Barrie good enough. Got that? Marincin played ha. Not better than Liljigren. Screwed up the back ups and got Campbell barely in the nick of time. He was pumpimg up Hutchinson and then got him back again this year ha.

Maybe it's time to contribute to what this thread is actually about? Training camp, Keefe conducting training camp... not to infect every thread with garbage complaining about the same tired BS.

I don’t want Hutchinson anywhere near the team. He’s a basket case. Guaranteed loss every time the board heard he was starting was what was the normal response from the majority posting
