Hopefully, they can see this team through another great run before hanging it up.

My best to Keats, his was always a unique and amusing addition to the broadcasts. He will be missed.

Same thing goes for the radio broadcast. Crazy to think that Daniels, Mick, Ken Kal and Paul Woods combine for well over 100 years as the main voices for the Red Wings.

This was sad to hear. When I first heard this guy I thought he was crazy and obnoxious, but he is great fun.
Obviously Redmond is in the 1st place, but Keating was definitely 2nd.

wtf? We're talking about replacing one of the most awkward tv broadcasters I've ever seen. Jimmy Howard held a spot for a couple seasons and he was terrible. Ozzy was awful his first season on the air.

What men are fawning over them? Most men whine about female commentators because as a sports-loving man's man, they apparently don't want any women around.

Jimmy Howard wasn't being looked at to replace Keating, nor is Murph or Ozzie. They are expert commentators. None of them qualify and Howard shouldn't be on air, period.

Fawning - Ever watch a ESPN telecast? Heck just the last game they were a gush over a TV time out bench question. Listening to female commentators on the physical aspect of the game or any aspect of the athleticism, is even worse.

Female commentators can't talk about athleticism?

I've not heard anything different than all the stuff the booth guys used to say to Pierre McGuire's awkward ass when he'd interview players between the benches. Praising his incredible insights.

As for the two clips you provided of one moment, I've not seen an in-studio breakdown from anyone that wasn't mostly pointless and stupid.

Exactly. I'm a flippin' dinosaur who hates seeing chicks around contact sports, and I think she's done fine (once y'all pointed out who she was to me ) and could definitely be fun and informative behind a desk, or interviewing like she does.

If she faceplants like Jimmy did or is awful like the ESPN (or is it TNT?) gal? Then fine, move on.

Edited to add that I overlooked Trevor. He has indeed earned it if he wants it. He wasn't bad calling that game on short notice last year either. Hmm...
