He's a Gamer, that's for sure. Some only know how to play the game at one speed and they can't be slowed down, you just have to let the stallion run free.

Hopefully Keefe just let's him know "I appreciate the effort right to the buzzer, next time just turn it down a notch when we are up 3-0 and you're skating full speed into a goalpost. Otherwise, keep it up".

I think the third line this year is the glue that holds the team together.

Until the game in Chicago, the Leafs didn't seem to have any real identity or sense of purpose. They looked like a bunch of guys on the ice who didn't really know each other and had no idea who would do what.

Since then, one of the stabilizing factors has been putting the third line line on the ice for defensive zone face-offs, with the expectation they will fairly efficiently clear the zone, bring the play into the offensive zone, and get a whistle for a line change, with a goal, a shot on net or drawing a penalty – any one of which is a highly successful shift. Even if they don't draw a whistle, but keep the play in the offensive zone long enough for a Leafs line change, that is a very successful result – and especially so in the second period, when with the long change the other team is not likely able to change their defenders. Forty years ago I heard Bob Gainey describe a successful shift for his line much more succinctly, but along the same terms: scoring a goal isn't the main idea – bringing the puck out of your own end, establishing the play in the offensive zone, wearing down the defenders and setting up a good line change or face-off for one of the scoring lines is the main purpose of the shift. I think the Leafs third line does that pretty darn well, and it fills an important role for the team.

The other big stabilizing factors have been (i) steady goaltending from Campbell – he doesn't have to be superlative, but just reliable, and he has been much more than that – and (ii) re-signing Morgan Reilly to a long-term deal, which has really set the direction for the team. The Leafs no longer need to figure out whether Rasmus Sandin could fill Reilly's shoes next year, and all the defenceman from top to bottom pretty much know where they're at and what they need to do. That helps a lot.

If the top two lines are reasonably productive and the fourth line doesn't screw things up, the big pieces are in place.

Feel like his play replaces more of what Hyman left than say Bunting. Good offensive skill, strong forecheck, sound defensively. I'm shocked they haven't given him PP time on the 2nd unit.

If you look at his 20 goal output from 2018, consider his rambunctious style, this guy could actually be a Hyman replacement if he can stay relatively healthy. (Pre Hyman blow up). Gotta find those pennies in the sofa and make sure he's a Leaf for next year and beyond.

Hey, thanks for the advice! Much appreciated:)

I could tell from your style that you're a very highly skilled writer.

I'll try my best to reach your level.

Thanks....A great friend of mine who I worked with in Africa met him on the hockey boards. We battled the seen and the unseen.. I used to compose long long long press releases etc...

He took me aside, and he taught me, hey fossil, its device world now, be kind to the eyes...

He was younger than me but taught me more that I ever taught him..

Same guys behind this current situation we were battling in africa, via aids..

I waved a white flag, he stayed, he died...

He left three children fighting..

Same culprits that killed him, squashed me financially, they are making us wear masks..

Same shameless guys, its unreal, using the same world social also Incredible.

What is the number of your sin....

sorry, let me change a word or two, what is your sin number..

The arrogance is amazing, the cockiness more amazing...

Keep YOUR SOCIAL distancing...

Thanks the six, you just reminded me, of why.....

Respect....Zeke maybe our best poster overall, met this guy...

? ? ?

I don't understand the meaning of your post.

Does it have something to do with Ondrej Kase?

It seems like a completely random, unintelligible rant.

Yeah that's the surprising part. You'd expect a player with his previous injuries to be a little more reserved, but he's fearless.

He's paired with a BIG player like Kampf too, who has been really good.

It's funny how all our forward line combos are Center and RW, but all the LWers are interchangeable.

188lbs is not big, that is skinny.

Kampf and Kase are great players. I dont understand why people say they are underwhelming. NOT every line is about scoring. You need shut down gritty defensive lines. Its all about the playoffs.
1. Most had never heard of either
2. Both do not have an impressive hockeydb page
3. Dubas scouted and signed them, so they must be junk

Pretty much sums it up. Essentially if the player isn't a star on a min contract, they are considered junk until proven otherwise around here.

IF Ritchie, continues to throw those open ice hits, doesn't take cheap penalties, plays good defence, gets a few more points..

Guy is gonna get some love from this board, certainly me.

If he does that, and the rest of the team just stays at this level...Foof, hold on to your seats.
