I know this was posted already in the roster thread but I'm personally pretty excited to see Kakko on the roster. I think he's exactly the type of player the roster currently needs.

I expected Borgen gone at the TDL so I really like this trade.
Mahura has looked solid in the bottom pairing but makes me curious who is called up? Fleury? Lajoie? Ottavainen?
This is precisely the type of trades I want Francis to do. Trade impending UFA's for some ready to plugin kids.

Kakko is a defensive stalwart and puck possession monster. He's fantastic in the corners and in front of the net and still has the same silky hands in tight. His shot leaves a lot to be desired and his skating also isn't great but he does manage to make up for a lot of those qualities with effort. He's just never been given a chance with the Rangers. Same story with Laf before he broke out, he's been pigeonholed into a bottom six role with the org and routinely been scratched for no reason when the veterans are the ones who have given up on the game. Kakko rarely gets frustrated and always gives his all.
Stylistically he reminds me of Burmistrov who's puck handling was great and could skate circles around the offensive zone and was a monster in the corners but just never got anything to show for it. His peak is probably above Bjorkstrands, similar type of player.
Kakko's advanced stats and possession metrics are really really good for a bottom six forward though and I think he could play a really great role in our roster with guys like Wright and Beniers and Sale coming up. Even just as a bottom six defensive guy he's still valuable but I wouldn't be shocked to see double the production come from him if he finds chemistry with our guys and the coaches trust him.
I think he's exactly the type of glue player you want in the bottom six or top six, defensively responsible, great at zone entries and puck retrieval, big and good in front of the net- if he ever just learns how to finish he'll pot 20-40g easy every year. A lot like a Lawson Crouse type of guy.
Personally would put him on the wing of either Beniers or Wright + Tolvanen.

If he is willing to drive the net, he will get every opportunity in our top-6. Also, if he is defensively responsible like you said, he could be a good fit with McCann and Beniers.

An interesting pickup, hard to argue with forwards who play good D.

It could be that Borgen was gone at seasons end or TDL...not sure where Kakko fits in...I'm thinking GMFrancis is not done yet

Defensively he's probably the best forward on the Rangers. He just doesn't get PK time (or PP time for that matter) and has just not been developed for shit. For the record (my numbers may be slightly off here) at 5v5 he's one of the top forwards for preventing goals while on the ice.
His On Ice SV% (percentage of saves made while he's on the ice) is 30th among forwards in the NHL at 5v5 with 150m min TOI. About 95%.

To give some context to these stats, On Ice SH% is the opposite, how many goals your team scores with you on the ice. There's very few players who has both a similar OISH% and OISV% (very high) - John Tavares, Adrian Kempe Bo Horvat, Dylan Guenther, Anders Lee, Matt Boldy, Cole Perfetti, Adam Lowry.
So basically, there's very few other players who's team both scores at a high rate and defends at a high rate while they're on the ice.
Now when you look at the quality of players those other players play with, the difference in TOI, etc...
He's a good player. The points just haven't come.
When you compare him to other players on the Rangers, well, he's 5th in GF at 5v5 but 3rd in GA.
4-6 less goals than Lafreniere, Panarin, Trochek, and Cuyle but between 4-20 less goals against than all of those. Only Cuyle is close, the rest are all 10+ goals against more.
Eh we don't need to move anyone else other than probably Stephens once Gourde is back.
One thing that will benefit kakko here is his food diet. He has Celiacs Disease just like what Evans has.

Watched some of his highlights and I really like that a lot of his goals were in front of the net. Either beating the goalie 1:1 or getting really good deflections in front of the net. Seems like he has a pretty quick release on his snapshot.
Skating definitely seems slow but he is giving us exactly what we need. Net front presence.

As a Rangers fan I hope KK does well. That being said, he might be the weirdest player I've ever watched. He has some puck possession skills and can play a defensively responsible game but doesn't know that there's this thing called the middle of the ice. Also not a good finisher (and that's me being nice).
But who knows, the change in scenery could certainly do him good. He just always left Rangers fans wanting more.

Kakko has options anywhere on the top-9. He has the hands, is good defensively and a big body. We could use net presence on line 1 through 4.

Congrats you got a hell of a good player and ended my 35 year fandom of the Rangers. He’s been wildly misused and mishandled by that organization. I’m hoping he really blossoms in Seattle.

Got friends in Seattle and love the area
Drury is dead to me and I won't watch another rangers game til he's gone
And the cheapest seats in MSG are $200 so I haven't even gone to a game in 10 years..
