Nic Dowd and Martin Fehervary, who have been out for the last few weeks with respective upper and lower-body injuries, are tending in the right direction and could be back in the mix against the Oilers, head coach Spencer Carbery told reporters in Edmonton. Both have been activated off the injured reserve.

"We'll make sure everything is good this afternoon and then make a decision tonight, but we've got some guys potentially coming back in the lineup tonight," Carbery said.

Tom Wilson is also a game-time decision, as he is dealing with a day-to-day upper-body injury that held him out on Monday against the Winnipeg Jets.

Very difficult task to win tonight, as you probably have a bit rusty Kuemper in net, game time decisions on players in the lineup, and the Oilers are a far more dangerous offensive team. Just want to see an overall better team performance tonight. Skinner is no where near as good as Hellebuyck and the Oilers are not as structured of a team as the Jets are. So there is a chance to win, but they can't fall behind early.

Caps were a bit fortunate against the Jets as the final score could have easily been 6-0(Jets hit 3 posts). Tonight falling behind 2-0 could be the end of the game. Kuemper having not played in something like 2 weeks, Oilers could easily put 6 by him tonight.

Caps were a bit fortunate against the Jets as the final score could have easily been 6-0(Jets hit 3 posts). Tonight falling behind 2-0 could be the end of the game. Kuemper having not played in something like 2 weeks, Oilers could easily put 6 by him tonight.

I actually thought the Caps were not to bad in periods 2 and 3 in the peg game. They got some good chances but against that goalie you need much more shots to hopefully earn some puck luck.

The fact Protas is out, tells me that until the IR players were ready to be reinserted back into the lineup that Protas was playing banged up.

I thought about this. With Fever back, Bear could be scratched. But then again, Alexeyev could struggle against the Oilers and Bear could be highly motivated to play his former team. Tough decision for the coaches.
