Hopefully he played his last game as a Ranger and they are close to a deal.

Hopefully! Between Schneider getting worked by LA's bust, Jones constant idiotic pinching, and Lindgren being Lindgren (But he plays with heart, right?), getting rid of KAM makes our D so much better. I mean, he's so bad that he makes our D still shit when he's not even playing. What a bum. Lol.

I’d like to see him under a different coaching staff. He was so promising under Gallant and co.

Since Laviolette came in he’s been trash .

Miller looked great under coaches who had no system. Telling imo. Not that I think Laviolette is great. Firing Housley shoud be Drury's next move to get the heat off tbh.

I'm a Miller fan, but I have to admit that a second weak season in a row is not looking good. I still hate the idea of trading him. Who is going to play his minutes ? He's been a 5-on-5 workhorse since week 2 of his rookie season. He is out there practically every shift after a PP or PK, and every other shift in the last few minutes when defending a lead.

Again, who replaces his minutes ? Alex Vlasic or Bowen Byran aren't going to magically appear on the Rangers. What, Gavrikov at 40 million ? Pettersson for slightly less, Pionk for a lot more ? Orlov is probably also looking for one more big contracts, looks like a perfect target for the typical two years too long and 1 mil too much caphit type of UFA contract, with county club membership.

If Miller never played for Rangers, he'd be the exactly kind of player that the roster building thread would've been fantasizing about non-stop for 4+ years now.

Funny reading the first few pages of this. I remember some Victor Hedman comparisons.

It’s a shame he’s become Tom Poti 2.0.

Anyone who was ever comparing K'Andre Miller to Victor Hedman really needs to undergo psychiatric evaluation/a full-panel drug test. Perhaps check their house for signs of carbon monoxide leaks or something, because that's absolutely insane.

I agree now and I agreed then.

At the time it was the “incredible physical package,” “just started playing defense,” “Hedman took awhile to be Hedman but so many similarities.”

That was like 2 years in… I remember thinking those folks were smoking some good stuff.

I did think he’d settle in as a long term 2 or 3, but alas, I’ve seen enough. He is what he is.

Thought I'd put this up here for the trade Miller, scratch Miller, Miller is the biggest issue on defense but Lindgren at least has heart crowd. Since Miller's injury:

1-5-0, -33 shot attempts, -41 shots, -39 scoring chances, -35 high-dangers, 39% xGF% (2nd worst in the league) 7-19 goal differential

At 5v5: -20 attempts, -30 shots, -26 chances, -22 high-dangers, 41% xGF% (2nd worst), 5-14 goal differential

Maybe the scapegoatting will finally end.

Why is legitimate criticism "scapegoatting"? No one has played well and K'Andre wasnt playing well be fore he got hurt. Trouba and Lindgren have been much better scapegoats than Miller and its not hard to see that.

K'Andre has talent but he's another soft defender with no positional awareness. You are out of your mind if you're willing to give him 6-7AAV on a long term deal this summer. Recipe for disaster, and when that happens, he will be the real scapegoat.

There's a difference between saying someone's playing poorly and scapegoating them.

A top-10 D in the league might play on this team right now and the Rangers probably lose similarly. A team is generally only as good as its weakest links. I do not think one player can overcome multiple teammates not showing up.

That is a huge ask for any individual player.

Within the framework of this team, some guys can still play positionally sound hockey with strong effort and others can do the opposite. Miller has been bad fundamentally, makes poor decisions, and seems to be getting worse on those fronts. His play is noticeably bad, but he is far from the only concern on this roster.

I made a very large (and boring) post a few pages back detailing that the defense issues on this team is a team issue and not an individual issue. I'd even go so far as to say the forwards lack of backcheck on this team might be an equally, and/or more pressing annoying issue.

If you look at the posts here and can't see the scapegoating going on, then I'm not sure what to tell you. It's the same as knowing we're on a defensively shit team and still blame Igor for not making some random saves in a 45 shot shelling of a game. No one on this team plays positionally sound hockey, and it's objectively worse with Miller out of the lineup. It's exceptionally worse with an anchor stapled next to Fox and quote me on saying if there's on D-man on this team that you can always point the finger at when it comes to being the worst, it's Lindgren, who is truly the weakest defensive link on this team.

Yet, here we are 38 pages deep and into trade him territory. After Kakko, some of the fans here are going to get what we asked for, and if Vaak and Borg are any indication of where the defense continues to trend on this team, then buckle your seatbelt.

Now there's precedent. Playing hockey like you have your head up your ass is considered an "upper body injury"

I am a fan of large and boring posts so long as they're not repetitive and fluff-filled. I already know my perspective, I am here to enjoy and expand on the thoughts of others.

I don't disagree with what you say. But please understand that I am normally in Asia at the beach during the winter, not in NY. I am only here this moment because my mom is about to have a tumor removed. I realize that has no relativity to your post other than to explain that I have not been in NY too long and I am not going to back peddle and read the prior 1000+ posts here.

Yes, from the small number of games I've seen, there are notable and almost shocking systemic issues. But I also see glaring fundamental errors from Miller. I won't scapegoat him or any other individual. Particularly because I don't think removing or trading out any one player fixes the mess this team is right now. But I can still note individuals I feel are not playing well or seem to be regressing.

I may well also look more at a guy like Miller more than, say, a Lindgren because I think Lindgren is at the best he's capable of while I think someone like Miller has tools that he has more he can offer.

Good post. The question people need to ask themselves is, do they think K'Andre will be a 1D for this team during the life of a 7x7 contract. Because that's what he will be asking for this summer.
