I expect that both will be 45-60 point complimentary players in their primes. I expect Kakko will produce more points than Podkolzin, I expect Podkolzin's overall game will be better though.

Kakko is not even as good as Hoglander. Podkolzin has 0 nhl games, but don’t be shocked if he outs ores Kakko this year. Podkolzin has been in stealth mode for 2 years.

So at 19 (month before 20) he got the exact same statline as 17 year old (only 3 months from being 16) Vitali Kravtsov did in the KHL playoffs

I guess the difference is that Podz led his team in playoff scoring while Kravtsov was 3rd?

But why would that matter in this poll.

I didn't vote but would take the too close to call because we haven't seen how each of them is going to develop here.

Kakko has the higher ceiling but Podz has the higher floor in my opinion. I'd wait a couple years to see where they land but very different players. Podz hasn't even played a game and Kakko has had a pretty slow start to career himself.

What are you even trying to prove here? Do you think Podkolzin would "get a sniff" at playing on the top 2 lines?

In regards to the poll, both are disappointing picks thus far, but this is easily Kakko.
Lol wut? What are you trying to prove saying that podz is disappointing? Who are you talking about?

Podz actually does have a chance at the top 6, all depends on how training camp goes and how he plays.

Who will be 'better' is hard to say because what defines 'better'? To one, better is what shows up on the scoresheet. For another, better is about much more than just points.

(eg: I'll use the Canucks as an example. Is Bo Horvat 'better' than Brock Boeser?
Boeser puts up more points, but I'd take Horvat over Boeser as the better player because he does so much more that doesn't show up as goals & assists and brings more to the team IMO. But not all may agree).

If it's purely goals/assists, then Kakko will be 'better'. I'd wager he ends up the better scorer over his career than Podkolzin.

But Podkolzin could very likely end up the better overall player if you believe that things like defensive game, hits, sticking up for teammates, killing penalties, leadership ability etc. are just as important.

In a nutshell - IMO, Kakko will score more. Podkolzin will be the more well-rounded overall player.

Both NYR and VAN are lucky to have them and I'd doubt fans of either team would trade one for the other.

Podkolzin has been disappointing. His lack of ice time in the KHL plays a big part in it. I can see him rebounding in North America though.

Podkolzin is a right winger. Please tell me which two of Boeser, Garland, and Hoglander is he surpassing to get into the top 6?

Still have Boeser and Garland in front of him. I still can't see what you're trying to prove by saying Kakko wouldn't be in the Canucks top 6 when the same can be said for Podkolzin.

And which one of Miller, Hoglander or Pearson isn't ahead of him on the depth chart? Podkolzin shouldn't be in an NHL top 6 nor will he be

You just used Hoglander for both sides to show there's three guys in front of him on each side though. There's only 5 guys in front of him, and Pearson isn't a big hurdle based on how he played last year, so that poster isn't really wrong that beating out Hoglander would put him in the top 6. And I'm not sure Garland is insurmountable either. It would be unexpected though and a big ask given Podz's development so far. Kakko would get the same opportunity as well.

Hoglander won a top 6 role while being a rookie. Why is it impossible for podz to do the same thing? Podz was picked for a reason at 10 when they coulda took hoglander at 10 if they wanted. He has a chance as much as anyone, especially over pearson. Im pretty confident it will be between hog and podz for that last top 6 spot.

A Canucks fan linked this poll in the Canucks subforum thread for Podz trying to get more votes for Podz. Lol so pathetic. Kaako until proven otherwise which will probably not happen tho of course I hope does happen

This is a year premature. We’ve seen Kakko against NHL talent, but we have yet to see Podkolzin. I’d probably take Podkolzin, I just really like his motor, I think he has both a high ceiling and a high floor. Kakko has been kind of underwhelming to date.

But I’m a Canuck fan. I won’t vote.

Kaako hasn't found his scoring touch in the NHL, but the rest of his game has been really good. Hoping maturity and learning how to best utilize his strengths in NA style of hockey will continue to help him reach his potential.
Haven't followed Pod too closely. Sounds like a good prospect as well.
