It has to do with the fact that those Podkolzin stats you listed aren’t otherworldly. Kakko’s stats in Liiga were otherworldly

Kakko was one of the most snakebitten players in the league that year. He was actually excellent. Folks watching numbers are in for a surprise this year.

weird comparison. Kakko has a skillset that Pod does not. However Pod has Toews level intangibles, and is a toolsy wrecking ball; and would actually be the perfect player to play on someone like Kakko's wing.
