You would think that anyone who watched or played the game long enough knows that it's a better idea to play the youngster on his strong side and the veteran on his off side if you have to play them togheter......it was a very strange decision right from the start.
Many of us brought it up when the experiment first happened.
In hindsight it's seems logical to want Guhle playing an instinctive game and Matheson a game where he's forced to think some on his weak side. :sarcasm:

The less thinking Matheson has to do the better.

I disagree his worst mistakes happen when he tries instinctive shit with no forethought.
His best games have always been when he's faced with the challenge of shutting down a particular line or player.

I've actually not called out Matheson much at all this season because he's cut down drastically on those thoughtless forays.
We aren't going to escape the rest of his foibles so there's no use.

I agree the lack of balance on this team is as much of a factor as the lack of talent is.
The issues are significant both on D and up front.
No talented RD we can rely on and no talented left handed centers we can rely on.
These are HUGE holes and neither seem to have a short term fix.
Trade would fix it

Was he spoken with also to concentrate exclusively on the defensive aspect of his game as any offensiveness he had, has disappeared.

Guhle has always been a defense first proposition but I get what you are saying.
It's no surprise to me that both Guhle and Matheson in particular are more selective when they decide to go.
Both will go when a clear cut opportunity or an odd man situation appears but they certainly aren't trying to make thing happen on their own as often.
Rightly so because we have Lane Hutson for that and now that he is being paired far more frequently with those guys someone has to hold the fort.
