Not sure of the exact date but whenever he's eligible to sign a long term contract, it should happen on that day. He's an absolute monster out there.

I really hope to see a Guhle/Struble pairing in the not too distant future.
I still think Struble will ultimately be our best left handed RD.
I'm assuming they want to leave him alone for now as he assimilates more minutes.

Struble has been a real nice surprise. Just a simple, no nonsense type player which coaches and teammates love. Both he and KG are very predictable and that's awesome.

Guhle has been horrible as of late (not unlike many others). His poise and decision-making have been very inconsistent, and those are usually his strengths.
It doesn't help that he is playing his off-side. Playing there means he has to hold on to the puck a bit longer. It sucks that he is forced into that position, on the top pair no less, at such a young age. Total failure by management to have him there as plan A.

I think just recently they have switched he and Matheson and KG is back on his left side.....
That said, he has not been as good since his injury, as compared to the early games before getting hurt.
The team has to get the RD spots squared away real soon. Hard on any Dman who has to play their off side.

Matheson-Struble
Hutson-Savard (Reinbacher eventually)
Guhle-Mailloux
7th: Barron
Laval until Savard traded: Xhekaj

Kaiden is coming out of his funk you don't see him shaking the cob webs out of his head anymore.
If anyone noticed he was doing that on occasion even after he came back.
The guy needs to keep his head out of danger somehow because he's constantly targeted as our best defender.
Target Suzuki target Guhle is on every opposing team's white board as how to beat the Habs.
The only difference this year is they've added contain Hutson.

I remember when Seattle did it last year. Guhle looked a bit shook as Tanev was running him all game. I think he just didn't expect to be "the" guy other teams focused on so early in his career.

Mailloux? Everyone says he is struggling in his own end in the AHL.........the offense is fantastic, but the D side of his game sounds rough...
Marty is tough on the Sherriff, no way does he go down for Mailloux. Engstrom by all accounts is the Rockets best Dman, and he of course is a lefty, so...............

Engstrom is one of the smoothest skaters in the entire AHL. He is amazing at skating with the puck. He isn't quite ready but he will make a push soon.

Then play Barron over Mailloux. Arber is not a must play. Let him go get his confidence back in Laval.

It should be criminal neglect on the coaching staff having the rookie playing his off wing in place of the veteran. And for what? At least 1 concussion is due to MSL.. absolutely insane having the kid play on the right side, and all of a sudden he's playing better? Ffs.. sometimes i seriously wonder if the staff has any foresight.

If Barron wasnt ready then we should never have teaded Kovacevic for pucks.

So with all the rightful calls to place Hutson over Matheson on PP1, I think in turn PP2 should ice Matheson-Guhle once Laine is back. Guhle deserves it and I think it really balances things. That pairing is better than one of them + a forward without much to offer on the PP.

PP1:
Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky
Laine-Hutson
PP2:
Heineman-Dach-Gallagher
Matheson-Guhle

Guhle needs PP time. The guys is an all situations player and it is a waste to keep him off when he doesn't have to play a ton of PK1

If they kept Guhle on his natural side he would develop into an all-star. I thought he played his best game as a Hab against Edmonton. Then switching him back and forth to right side. Doing more harm than good to team.

Especially offensively he would produce much more. Playing on wrong side they are on their backhand in offensive zone. Definitely cutting down Guhle effectiveness.

I agree the lack of balance on this team is as much of a factor as the lack of talent is.
The issues are significant both on D and up front.
No talented RD we can rely on and no talented left handed centers we can rely on.
These are HUGE holes and neither seem to have a short term fix.

You would think that anyone who watched or played the game long enough knows that it's a better idea to play the youngster on his strong side and the veteran on his off side if you have to play them togheter......it was a very strange decision right from the start.
