Player Discussion Kaiden Guhle

I don't know what your GTFO is all about. I'm not fortunate enough to have season tickets, or to afford going to 'Live' games all that often, but I've been blessed to have friends take me to a few games at the Bell Centre and the first thing I did when I went was focus on a player for entire shifts -- one per period.

I've done so with Markov and, honestly, he was a complete D, with smarts both offensively and defensively, able to use his positioning to his advantage and his anticipation to make up for lost speed.

Defensively, he was a beast around the net and able to box out opponents.

I'm just saying that you can't fully appreciate a player with camera angles and focus on the puck carrier on TV.

Subban carrying the puck was more about the way Subban plays than Markov having lost a step.

Subban's showmanship antics left four team mates static at the blue line. Markov might have been slower than Subban (who, BTW, wasn't that quick, but really strong to protect the puck and muscle his way past an opponent), but he could really pass the puck and would have better used his team mates on the fly to keep the play moving forward into the O-zone.

I understand you might be a fan of Subban (as I was), but you have to be able to recognize the good and the bad from his play.

Subban was unable to adjust his game as he grew older the way Markov did.
Good takes on both players.
You said that you have been blessed with friends taking you to a few games at Bell Centre; can you PM me to give me their names, cell. Numbers and the reasons why you think they appreciate you? :innocent:

Losing Guhle means... Matheson will play more. A lot more. It was a fun 1.5 months. Back to the basement we go.

Kidding aside, this is the kind of thing that if I were Hugo, I would trade for a D. If you want to keep the momentum, you need to fill that hole. There's no one else that can play the minutes and give quality D like Guhle can. I wouldn't take a sit and wait approach here. Could maybe ship out Mailloux.
Not that much more of Matheson. Savard is healthy this time.
