The revisionist theory with Kadri in Toronto is hilarious. You're right he wasn't the only playoff failure, but you're conveniently forgetting he went and got suspended his first playoff with the Avs, and should've again the next year too.

Nazem Kadri only cares about Nazem Kadri. He's only real good season was when it was time to get paid
I didn't forget anything. Same as you are saying now. Kadri would have been the difference between success and failure. So get rid of the difference that would have lead to success! How has that worked out? Pretty good for the Avs!

Remember when it was all Babcocks fault? How about Andersen? Marner just last year? Kadri? Dubas? It's weird how great these guys are until suddenly they aren't. Yet nothing changes when these guys move on. Don't look at the actual problems! Just blame a guy or two (when you get really desperate) every year, usually on their way of of town. Weird how it works out that way so often. No one ever blames the highest paid disappearing act in the league and no one blames the guy in charge of signing these atrocious contracts of the core, SHANAHAN.

Dubas tried his best to hold Nylander off from his insane 2nd contract but Shanahan stepped in and folded like a cheap tent. He then took over dealing with the core 4, letting them write their own contracts. Which is why we saw the core, Matthews and Nylander, continue to receive those absurd contracts once Dubas left.

There is nothing revisionist about it. It's a consistent pattern and the lemmings eat up and regurgitate what they are told.

You don't hear a lot of active players talking about potentially returning to a past club while they are currently playing elsewhere.
He was asked, about possibly returning "someday" and "in some capacity".... and his response was "who knows?" then proceeded to say he wouldn't rule it out. That's about as close to a non-answer, answer as you can get on a question one could interpret as him even returning post-retirement.

That why reading things are important.

This is a pointless quote. The other CGY thread is taking about the Flames ADDING a center, not giving one away. They aren't trading Kadri.

And Toronto doesn't need another high priced C, with Matthews and Tavares. They aren't trading for Kadri.

This is as relevant and interest as hearing that Jesper Bratt isn't closing the door on playing for Anaheim one day. Why would he? Who cares?

It's not so much just adding a centre, it's adding an age-appropriate centre that fits our youth focus.
Hot take is that Kadri won't be a Flame by Christmas 2025. There's only so much losing a player on the back 9 of their career can take.

The issue is the Flames aren’t going to eat $20 million+ of salary for a 2nd round pick or some other mediocre compensation. That’s not Edwards’ MO.

And no one is going to pay Kadri’s full contract.

I don’t see him getting traded until he’s closer to the end of his deal. Unless Kadri wants to void his contract but I don’t see that happening.

Why?
7M for a second line centre that is excellent defensively, can step into a bigger role if required (as per his cup winning season with the Avs). He was a top 15 scorer down the middle last last in the entire league. People worry about age and contract length too much when it comes to valuable players in the NHL, like it personally affects their livelihoods. His game doesn't rely on speed, and we're finding he's getting better as he's getting older.

Any GM in the league who is either in, or opening a competitive window would make this money work if they could. Don't you think the Avs would kill to have Naz still on the team? Boston, Toronto? Jets, Wild? Hell, even the Kings or even better the Oilers? GMs don't care about the 2028 season and how their cap is going to look, they care about trying to win right now.

Everyone wants to play in TO. Years ago Leaf fans inundated the boards that Todd Bertuzzi would only play there. Then crickets when Burkey extended him. I guess they managed to lock down Tavares and recently a beat up Tanev. Not every guy years to play where he grew up.

Kadri probably wants another chance to play for a competitor. But he seems to have a good thing going in CowTown and I think that team could be half decent by 26/27.
