The Sun: Kadri Not Impressed By Jersey Tossing Fan

Great speech, Nazim.

Is your dad finally going to wear the beloved Leafs jersey at this years father-son road trip?

Going on 3 years, and Sam Kadri is the only father invited who doesn't put on his son's Leafs jersey.

That offends me more than a yahoo throwing his jersey on the ice. At least he paid for the jersey and the ticket. Sam Kadri is there on MLSE's dime.

BB

His father said he didn't like wearing his son's jersey because he felt it was too boastful.

Just terrible character, eh?

I don't see anything wrong with what the fan did. Sometimes it's not just about the team and players itself but the entire organization.

I don't expect any different from a company owned by Rogers/Bell but the fact that ticket prices went up, yet again, was a good point brought up on TSN radio today, considering the performance of the past decade. There are different ways to vent your frustration at the organization and I don't see how throwing a jersey on the ice is so horrible.

I would never do it but I don't have a problem with a fan tossing his jersey. Also have absolutely no problem with Kadri being pissed about it. The knock against this team is they don't care enough yet when somebody stands up and takes some pride in the team he gets told to put his head down and shut up. Stupid.

this. So many haters just looking for a chance to jump on this guy too. I have no problem with him taking issue- he was answering a question. At least he didnt give the boring textbook answer #34 like what the press always gets from the Captain.

Does anyone else recall Kadri calling the fans peasants accompanied by a pic of him on his private jet via twitter in the off season?

That sparked a bit of a ****storm.

I dont remember this and i follow the leafs pretty closely, are you sure your not making this up?

May be that guy was done with the S*** TML does every single year and decided to go with any other Canadian or NHL team.. Who knows, fans changes and even I would do the same thing if this continues for another 5 years.

If players are allowed to tell us what type of fans they want showing up at the games, then fans should be able to tell them what type of players we want showing up at the games...

Good ones!!

We don't need fans like that Naz? How about we don't need players who refuse to take responsibility for their part in a lousy effort! That inflated and undeserved paycheque you cash every week is paid by guys like that fan you don't need and the guys high fiving him. The adult response would be to step into that man's shoes and try to understand why, then perhaps reflect on what part you may have played in that to prevent it from happening again. At the minimum you could keep your opinions to yourself and not comment on it. You wonder why people hate you Nazem? It's crap like this you entitled, overskilled under effort brat. You are indeed a one man muskoka five.

Just who is acting like the brat? The immature idiot who is tossing the Jersey on the ice.....or the man who did not avoid the question but gave a truthful answer to the question.

Seems to me that you need to understand what a brat is....it most certainly was not Naz...

FYI, this would be a correct answer for me: "We are deeply disheartened that the fans feel this way. We understand that this team has a long history of scraping the bottom of the barrel and gutting the fans' hearts. We have mounted this jersey in our dressing room to be a constant reminder who we are playing for. It will provide us with extra motivation to do well and to prove it to the world that this group can outwork and hit and outscore anyone who dares step on our sheet of ice. "

But hey.. blame the fans, you classless, sanctimonious piece of crap. Please trade him already.

Correct answer = pandering to your ego? No thanks, I'm satisfied with the answer Naz gave. He was just telling it like it is. Don't like it? Don't watch the games.

I believe that is what the fan was implying, c ya, not paying for this **** anymore.

I laughed when I saw the shirt toss. What an idiot, making some non existent point.

Good on Kadri.

Leafs Lunch made a good point which bewildered me since most of the time I find them to be a bunch of babbling bafoons!

They said Kadri has always portrayed a sense of entitlement which I for sure agree with.

Be careful what you promise! At the moment stringing a few wins together does not seem like such an easy task. Also it is far from a reward for fans. String a few winning seasons together and then come out with this ******** cocky attitude. You should be addressing the fans from your hands and knee's begging for their loyalty, not expecting it and ridiculing it.

The statement: "We don't need fans like that" is what really rubbed me the wrong way. It almost feels like he owns the team and fans. There are many fans that have been watching this team longer than 2x his entire lifespan and they deserve any and all respect because quite frankly with the attitude they don't need a player like that.

Credit Phanuef 1000%, classy answer and classy attitude.

Wtf?? :laugh::laugh:

You're really reaching on this one. It doesn't mean anything like what you think it means. If anything when Kadri says we don't need fans like that, he cares more about the fans. I'm not at all surprised some people would take what he said the wrong way, egos tend to do that.

Absolutely, and not just to my ego. All of the fans. Granted, some have rose colored glasses on or are still star struck, I have long passed that point in my life when I think these people are some sort of heroes. They are very rich trained monkeys that are there for only one purpose and their opinions are hugely overrated. He should **** and be grateful for us idiots wasting money on being fans. Because it means something to us, and some nights it looks like it means only $$$$ to them.

Not that I would toss a jersey over the boards, but again, I haven't bought a jersey in 12 years.

You go ahead and keep drinking the coolaid, bro.

Throwing a jersey on the ice IS disrespectful, so I don't really see any reason why Kadri should be okay with it. 99.9999% of the fans wouldn't do it.

I like that he gave an honest answer.
