guys, what is the deal with Gabe Perreault? Is he staying at BC for sure? He seems like a good fit for the Kreider-Zibanejad line. I believe RW is his natural position, though I could be wrong.

I think Drury wants to stick it out with Kakko, but I doubt he starts on the Kreider-Zibanejad line. Chytil and Kakko have good chemistry, so maybe that is their best course of action.

I come in peace. Just curious about Perreault. Thanks in advance.

Everyone is forgetting fast how bad he was against Florida. He simply can’t skate well enough yet to this point.

Truth.

Straight from Drury’s mouth.
This is where I’m at with him. If he falls back into form, that’s great since you’re likely not getting better out of the same price point. If you want to trade him, the other GMs will know how they’ll need to maneuver cap to fit him. I wouldn’t be shocked if this was him agreeing to a number while still asking for a trade.

I know we already discussed the Tomasino idea, and that still makes sense on paper to me

he's a winger, has played RW lots.

Needs more time to cook physically, and lots of us are curious/excited to see him put in a less comfortable position than alongside Smith and Leonard. His growth into a bigger role on the team and with other high end prospects should teach us a lot about what he could be.

Skating has been widely circulated as what will hold him back, but it hasn't prevented massive production as we all know. Remains to be seen how he will mitigate those concerns, or even if he needs to.

Ultimately I think we are largely gunshy about rushing player development at the NHL level due to recent prospect ineffectiveness (less so now with Laf), and if this core is not capable of getting to the mountaintop we feel pretty good that he's a potential significant piece of the puzzle for the next contention.

KK is 23. Buch is 29. Would a deal be possible? I have always believed that Drury moved Buch in large part because he hoped KK would be able to fill a top 6 RW spot

Awesome, thanks!

Not sure why Kakko signs unless the plan is to keep him because it’s not like he couldn’t tell his new team he would take the qualifying offer

Hot take, I'd rather trade Chytil than Kakko at their current price tags. At least i can envision Kakko learning how to use his body and play in a straight line, even if he isnt ever highly productive.

Sure but who’s taking a concust Chytil ?

Lindgren and Goodrow for Chychrun and Joseph

Sure Chychrun a rental but Goodrow has one more year on Joseph I think

Joseph , Chytil , Kakko 3rd line

Try Edstrom 4th line C with Cuylee , Vesey , Rempe , Brodz rotating

Link?

Should've traded down for that reason alone
My mother in law ( Big Ranger fan in FLA) has Ciliac. You eat the wrong thing and it's a nightmare.

Poor woman has to go over every detail in a menu like a crazy lady.

That said, she cuts Kaapo no slack. Says he has the motor of a 1987 Hugo. Anyone remember those pos cars?

No one taking him unfortunately. Tough situation

This would be an all time heist.

Like McDonagh for Gomez level heist.

I didn’t really hear any chatter the last two preseasons about Kakko being physically behind. Vince had an article back in preseason about how Kakko looked primed to breakout.

Does he have room to improve there? Sure, but I think it’s a reach thinking that’s why he is what he has been. I think it’s more mental and it’s not processing the game quick enough. He hardly ever knows what to do with the puck after possessing it for 10 seconds.

I like how this got settled fast. Hockey is dead to me rn and everything but this is great. Bet on yourself. Get a f*cking good 3C in here Chytil terrifies me.

I thought he'd be wanting $3m+ so very good deal in that regard as he's an NHL regular.
You could probably read a bunch of different things into this contract depending on how you wanted to frame things, so will be interesting to see what shakes out across the season

Sadly, despite being a #2 overall pick, we've never tried to build anything at all around Kakko (and really same thing with Laf).
Summary of our "rebuild" and why we've rejoined that special purgatory of winning lots of playoff rounds without winning anything important.

There are quite a few contracts I feel Kakko will out perform: Hayes, Atkinson, Anderson, Kotkaniemi, M. Foligno, to name a few.

That’s your first problem, you listened to something Vince said. He probably showed up in the last 10 minutes of practice and saw Kakko make a nice move then ran to post an article about how he’s primed to breakout.

I’m getting tired of watching this guy skate around with the puck and have nothing come of it. He needs to start putting up numbers now.
