Here
Kakko: 4G/2A/6P in his last 6 games.
That whole line seems to be going. Kakko and Chytil really finishing plays which is great to see.

Pissed that Chytil was taken out the way he was. I mean thats a suspendable hit right? Completely away from the play geeze.

Is the only thing with Chytil about him staying in the lineup?

Over 82 hes on pace for about a 55-60 point season the way hes paying.

Kakko now up to last season's career high of 0.42 ppg.

Keep it up. He can't have these 7 game pointless streaks anymore. Those baby days need to be over. I'm not expecting PPG Kakko of the last 6 games to last forever, but he can't have these half a month scoring droughts either.

You mean what the Oilers did with the first iteration of their (failed rebuild?)

What about what the Blackhawks or Penguins did?

Already has 8 goals. 3 more and that would be a career year. I think he can score 20 this year if he continues his great play

That seems a reasonable goal for him right now. 20 goals. Get there.

I'd like Laf to get there too, but he's not potting a lot of them right now. I'd set his goal at 0.5 ppg, which he's almost at right now despite looking very cold.

With no PP time.

Another goal scored off a one-timer from the right circle. Continually getting that shot off in transition is a nice weapon to add to his arsenal. We need to be better attacking off the rush too, which we have been lately

Encouraging that he's letting it rip instead of holding it and trying to make a move. Growth!

Gallant really lit a fire under him by scratching him in the playoffs last year. Great move looking towards the long term rather than just some short term gratification.

It's everybody's right to question that call (scratching Kakko). But assigning some meaning to it like he was looking towards the following regular season as some f***ing teaching point is almost comical. Come on. The Rangers were trying to win a series to get to the Cup final. Gallant wasn't giving a flying rip about 2022-23.

Kakko after today's game: ".... It was nice to score a goal like that in the end, especially after a play like that.”
Yeah, it was nice, alright lol.

Game over. Win. We’re all happy. But we’ve got 5 days till the next one, so there is time for also being slightly annoyed and analyzing coaching decisions.

Kakko is on a heater. Usually plays very safe/smart with the puck. Has a history of confidence issues. How does benching him cause of one mistake help the team or player IN ANY WAY? He ends the game with 12:30 of ice time. 90 seconds less than Vesey. Come on. That’s not good for the team in the short or long term. I think Kakko doesn’t want the line to be called the kid line so they can get the same treatment as the vets who they outperform 5v5 most nights.

I’ll give GG credit for not hiding them at the end of the 3rd leading to the win, but I also wonder if his hand was forced because that’s the line that is next after a PP.

If the Rangers get production from all 4 lines it bodes well. I get a special kick though when it's the Chytil, Kakko, Lafreniere line. Hopefully Laf starts putting some pucks in soon too. Still you can see all these guys being in the 40 point territory by the end of the season--maybe even more. That's improvement. Chytil and Kakko are both playing with more physicality and determination this year. That really started towards the end of last year and into the playoffs.

Saw him run the fourth line out a few times instead of the third in the rotation probably because he really liked how they were playing (and they scored 2 goals so I can’t really second guess it in this game)
