Its only a matter of time before Kakko starts getting on the inside of the defenders and into the middle of the ice where his shot is most dangerous. It will take some time, but he'll find it sooner or later
I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but look at his stride: just like Hossa’s. There’s a reason I keep bringing up Marian: he was one of the best of his generation and strongly resembles Kakko in a lot of ways (someone else actually made this comparison during the summer). KK just needs a faster stride — but the technique is the same. A lot of skaters essentially “kick” or push off the ice for acceleration; only a handful reach forward with their legs, as if on an elliptical machine, which KK and MH do.

People really love critiquing his bad sides on these boards but you rarely see those same posters talking anything about his positives so far and you don't see then commenting when he gets on the board. The kid is 18 and making good progress imo and i ain't worried the slightest because he is only adjusting to the smaller ice and the pace of the game, and he very much is capable of getting there soon. It's only a matter of time and we will start seeing people shut up and eat their words on these boards.

Ah. You've been on the Devils board.

I was wondering what you're blabbering about in a thread full of positive observations mixed with reasonable caution (about a young lad still very much work in progress).

Or mainboards.

Kakko has also got a decent chance to score more NHL goals during his career than any left-handed shot from Finland before him. He'll probably have the most points by a Finnish player born in February too, and it's very possible Kakko will top the list of "most points by a Finnish player born in a city with more than 100,000 but less than 200,000 people".

Also the first left-shooting Finnish diabetic professional teenage athlete over 6”0 born after the death of Tupac to score a shootout goal in Madison Square Garden on an afternoon in the first half of November against a non Original Six team during the post-expansion era, while wearing a non-prime jersey number.

When I said all this kid needed to take a big step forward was a small run of good fortunate, this is exactly what I was talking about. It'd be nice if his linemates started potting a few too since 30+ goals still seems optimistic to me. 20/20 and beyond would be amazing.

Seems he is getting it.
I was eortied he would jyst fusturste himself for being to early in NHL but it seems he can manage with that medicore stride and stamina.
Though 82 games in NHL is a though ride.

Sky is the limit in a few seasons.
