I agree about the team in front of him being awful but I mean he hasn’t exactly stolen any games either. His save percentage is not very good..

I wonder what his value is right now if Trotz traded him? Retention?

Trotz isn't retaining on an 8 year contract. At best its probably a first and a mediocre prospect and then some kind of backup goalie coming back.

I don't imagine Trotz would trade him even for that. Although he should be willing to take anything at all back, if it's a goalie contract or even another contract dump on top of that. Skinner and Kane. Whatever dumps make it work. It would probably guarantee a Cup for Edmonton. Except Trotz just won't do it.

Annunen has EASILY been our top goalie hands down.

Annunen is better in every single stat possibly over Saros. While I agree the team has been awful in front of them both has been awful, their stats still speak their own volumes.

Maybe I’m just used to Pekka and Vokoun stealing us games in the past quite often. Saros couldn’t steal us a pint glass from a pub these days. Even last season we got into the playoffs but his number were weak. He’s without a doubt getting worse and worse over time it’s appearing.

Yes the whole team sucks and he’s part of the team. Annunen hasn’t been a stud but been much better than Saros. That’s not even debatable, the numbers speak for themselves.

I mean, anybody who watches them knows Annunen isn't as good as Saros. He does have better numbers atm. In a tiny sample. But Saros has been one of the most consistent starting goalies in the NHL for the last 5-7 years, and he still has all the same physical attributes. The team absolutely plays a lot more "loose" in front of him (which is saying a lot in the current Nashville gameplan).

I have nothing against Annunen... he's a big guy and pucks tend to hit him... I'm not sure if he has an NHL future or not, but I would also like to see him get more games down the stretch to try to find out. But it's really ludicrous to claim that he's better than Saros at this point. I mean, it's not even close. And I say that as no serious fan of Saros, and while being as hopeful as possible that Annunen pans out. You just can't get too carried away with small sample statistics, however.

Annunen has save percentage above .900
Saros has save percentage below .900

And yes gaa is close.

So yes still better for Annunen. But close on that one at least.

Saros save % is lower and his won-loss is worse because he's played more games in front of this dogshit team. He's still shown flashes of his old self with some shutout and otherwise good games. Anunnen hasn't shown me anything yet to convince me he can be a full time NHL starter
