Nah, I'd maybe consider a 4th or 5th or at the very most, the highest of the 3rds if there's a 4th coming back.

I don't think Barron for a 3rd fits with what we should be doing.
Since Montreal has 21 picks in the next 2 drafts, the likely-hood of the team trading Barron for more low picks is near null. You'd have to upgrade some of them at least with warm bodies coming back we can actually use. Pulj isn't one of them, unless you target a roster player who we want to replace. That too, is not obvious, since MTL would say: Armia, Dvorak, Anderson, Gallagher, who aren't interesting to anyone.

I'm a huge fan of Mailman and now wondering if he's going to take the next step. Rein is a complete unknown as far as making it to the NHL.

So RHD is a hole that nedds filling so trading a RHD is not going to happen.

There is nothing but a gross overpayment that will move the needle for a trade.

Sorry...

That's fair. That said, Utah had a gluttony of draft capital as well and used it to gain roster players. Perhaps more draft capital could be used to help Montreal move some of the players you mentioned.

I think the fan-base would prefer keeping Barron to attempt packaging him, getting the roster upgrades we need.

It may be another story in the off-season, looking for 2027 picks.

If Mailloux gets a handful of games and shows he'll be ready next year, Barron is gone. More likely for a reclamation project than a pick. But a 3d rounder type value makes sense.

What would the cost be here? With Karlsson almost assuredly being traded next off-season for futures, the Penguins should be looking for opportunities to acquire a young RD or two to build up on their 3rd pair and plan on taking over 2nd pair duties next year. Barron seems like a nice jack of all trades type of defenseman that could have a solid middle pair D upside.

Montreal is very deep in picks so I'm not sure that picks would be interesting for them, but would some sort of prospect for prospect swap make sense?
I think they would be interested in upgrading /deferring a pick. something like Barron and a 4th (2025 Boston 4th or 2026 NJ 4th) for that 2027 Rangers second the pens have.
