Rumor: Just Kidding! Pettersson and JT Miller Trade Reunion!

His rights would still be traded. Just like Bedards.

So it would involve Nico Hiesher ++ going to Chicago, Hughs going to NJ and Bedard going to Vancouver

Only way Quinn walks to UFA is if the Canucks have a Calgary situation with Gaudreau where their team is tremendous and the owner puts his foot down and says he wants a Cup run over what happens in the future. Idk what the rest of this stuff is with Bedard and Nico in this.

Yea it’s more or less Rutherford explaining why we may see Miller and/or Pettersson moved at a discount but him also asserting that they aren’t just going to move them for nothing either.
Seems confusing. Anyways, Vancouver management has handled this badly. Your two best forwards
don't like each other. In the old days no one would care. So what. I still would not trade either if I didn't get equal value. And, they won't. Don Cherry just said no one would want Pettersson.

Keep the Vancouver / Boston swap going in this chaos:

Miller and Demko for
Coyle, Swayman, Lysell and Carlo.

I don't know what this is accomplishing. Moving Swayman for a broken Demko is a rebuild move and adding Miller is a win now move.

The simplicity (if the NMCs can be worked out so maybe not so simple) of Elias Lindhom with a million bucks in retention for JT Miller is appealing. Lindholm slides into #2C in Vancouver and at 6.75 can be fine at 3C if Vancouver can upgrade over the next few years.

For Boston

Marchand Miller ???
Geekie Zacha Pasta
Frederic ??? ???

And fill in with Coyle, Poitras, Lysell, Merkulov, Brazeau depending on the chemistry. You probably want to move Carlo out to a team like Buffalo or Ottawa that is young forward rich but really could use a defensive minded RD to balance out the top 4 pairings.

How many picks/prospects is Philly adding to this deal? or are they retaining 50% and paying another team to retain another 50% for 75% retention on both?

Ok. You retain 50% on JT Miller and the Flyers will retain 50% on Couts. Fair?

I get that you like your player - but I think you need a bit of a reality check on his actual value.
This goes beyond production, even which has struggled now.

1) History of being a locker room problem
2) openly fueding with his current teammates
3) same very long contract with NMC
4) canucks shifting to move EP instead because they are not getting value for JT (cuz he has none)

But sure, mock other teams players.

Couts is overpaid for what he brings. But he is still a Selke defender who can put up 40-50 points. Locker room sweetheart. Needs a transition as TK is clearly flyers leader.

saw this proposal on a stream last night and thought it was tempting for Vancouver.

Crazy to me Jim would come out and say these sort of comments. How does this do anything but lower their value if you are basically saying "we need to trade one of them".
lol

The poisonous locker room situation in Vancouver has been a known fact. Not for months. For years.

Jim Rutherford hasn't revealed anything that isn't already well known across the league.

Wasn't a Bruins fan that brought it up as an option, to be clear.
That’s fine, I just don’t understand why it makes any sense from a Canucks’ POV. When JR said they might be looking at getting a 2nd or even 3rd line center in return, he suggested there would be other assets involved and that they would have to look at turning those assets into something that they need down the line.

Swapping Miller for Lindholm, even at $1.25M less isn’t going to help them improve now or in the future.
