Getting a jump on the Allvin, Rutherford year end state of the union.

There will be many coaches available.

IF Tocchet goes it will be by "mutual" agreement, just like it was in Arizona. IMO.

NHL HC is a boatload of turnover these days. The number of current NHL clubs whose HC was still employed by the team at the end of the 22/23 season to now (just 2 seasons) is like:

Van, LV, Utah, Col, Dal, Det, TB, Fla, Mon, Pitt, Car

Maybe I missed one, but I think Pitt, Det of this group could change HC this off-season.

When New, non big name HC get hired, we are talking sub $2 mill per season. Probably closer to $1.5 mill per. Not a major financial commitment to move off a guy.

And Philly who haven't committed to Shaw.
Tocchet has friends in management there.
If Pitt moves on would the Canucks consider Sullivan?

Tocchet would have a lineup of teams interested if he hit the open market. Question for him is who does he wish to work for and how does he view the clubs? You can like the GM and other people, but certain situations are not going to be very good.

But, he's also looking at like 5 years at $25 mill on a contract, which is what the likes of Torts/AV and co got on their last deals.

Phi is a ways away IMO from doing anything.

Sullivan was in Van, but at this stage, he is better off taking a year to sit back and reset himself.

If Tocchet bolts, they will be in a pickle. If they hire somebody over top of Manny Malhotra, then there's a good chance he leaves as well.

And if the Abbotsford Canucks go on a lengthy Calder Cup run, then his services would be in more demand than ever around the NHL.

So unless Rutherford goes out and signs somebody like a Mike Sullivan, Peter Laviolette or Pete DeBoer, then elevating Malhotra is virtually a no-brainer decision.

And I'm sure Aquilini would rather pay a graduating AHL coach, than a 'name guy' from around the NHL, who'll cost a lot more money.

Any club would be lucky to have Manny as coach. He will be an HC in the NHL within the next two years. Every rookie NHL coach has growing pains. But he will come through it an even better coach

So many fond memories of him and the other families
