Toronto. Florida takes that deal and runs. Mathews is the best player in the deal, and immediately starts drawing 2nd and 3rd line matchups, and more than replaces Verhaeghe on PP1. Losing Lundell would hurt, but you don't say no to a 40-60 goal scorer who at least knows what his side of the ice smells like. I love Kulikov, but hes a replaceable bottom pair D.

Panthers fan. Lundell is awesome but yea Florida takes that deal all day every day unless Matthews has serious long term injury issue we don't know about.

Slightly on topic though...I could see Toronto going after Bennett and if they get him, Panthers would go after Marner.

I could see Toronto going after Bennett.

Honestly though I don't know that replacing Bennett with Marner would make Florida better.

Marner is a better player I'm not suggesting that.

What I am suggesting is that center is a much more important position than wing and losing Bennett would create a significant hole down the middle.

Marner can do a lot of things, playing center isn't one of them.

I don't see the Panthers going after Marner. Not the right type of player. Marchand would cease to be a rental if Bennett walks. Same reason for acquiring Jones. Potential replacement for Ekblad if he walks.
