The only other active players to reach 500 assists faster, was Sidney Crosby (554) and Connor McDavid (527)

How many in the HOF lacks individual awards and rings? McDavid will be in despite no rings (so far) cause he have a lot of individual awards. Marner have zero.

Neither does Mats Sundin and no major NHL awards (not sure of the Mark Messier award counts). However, Mats internationally has an impeccable record and is a highly respected player (good captain, hard worker, good guy). If Mitch can reach 1,000 points, break some Leaf records and stay at least a PPG, he gets in the HOF

I'd be surprised if all three guys play their entire careers with the Leafs.

It's becoming increasingly rare.

I guess Nylander is the one who has the furthest to go at 275 points to end up in the top 3.

That shouldn’t be too hard, as in over a century no player has broke the 1000 point mark.

A lot of people are turning the Hall of Fame into the Hall of Very Good and it’s ridiculous.

Not even. The Hall of Mediocre. Stone and Morrissey are basically that in an all-time context. I doubt either would even be a top 100 player at their own position.
