Player Discussion Juraj Slafkovsky Discussion

The intuition that Slafkovsky is the key to our future success has been brewing in the back of my mind for several days.

Not Hutson, not Demidov, not Suzuki.

It is Slafkovsky who holds the fate of this team in his hands.
You're actually right, but probably not for the reason you believe. The fate of this team is in the core three's hands, Suzuki, Hutson and Demidov (Id personally add Guhle but I won't for the sake of not arguing over and over.), but to really get over the top, we need another player that grafts himself to that group. Wether it's Slaf, Reinbacher, Hage, a player traded for, etc, it doesn't matter, but we need one more.

Barkov-Reinhart-Tkachuk-Forsling
Eichel-Pietrangelo-Stone-Marchesseault
Mackinnon-Rantanen-Makar-Landeskog
Kucherov-Point-Hedman-Stamkos
ROR-Parayko-Pietrangelo-Tarasenko
Ovi-Kuznetsov-Backstrom-Carlsson
Crosby-Malkin-Kessel-Letang
Kane-Toews-Keith-Hossa
Kopitar-Doughty-Carter-Quick
Chara-Bergeron-Krejci-Thomas

Theres always four. We need four. Caufield isn't good enough and he'll never be. Guhle while I love him and think he's underrated, needs to either keep growing or be upgraded on as "4th" piece (Although he's very similar to Forsling and Parayko), Slaf isn't good enough right now, and no one else is even close to being in the category.

This is true on a more abstract level, but yeah, I believe Slafkovsky will be THE key player of this quatuor, even after they all blossomed.

He really did, I just watched the podcast lmao.

And Normand Flynn would have wanted us to trade Caufield for a glorified third-line center back in the day.

Most analysts on TVA and some on RDS are in my opinion "off their rocker" and don't deserve their air time whatsoever.

Gagnon is one of those guys for me, despite the HHOF induction. A lot of his takes are objectively head-scratchers.

Wanting to trade Slafkovsky for a guy that could just retire next season is simply another testament to that.

The funny thing about it is that aside from their hockey coverage I actually think RDS' CFL/NFL coverage is very strong overall.

Off-topic but bear with me here. I am not a usual BPM Sports enjoyer, but I did enjoy "la ligne des mêlées" with Arnaud Gascon-Nadon and Arnaud Pepperall-Gutierrez last year when they were on.

They were both insightful and entertainning. I recommend their content to anyone interested and hope they come back for next NFL season.

Anyways, barring the lost cause that is TVA Sports, if RDS had coverages for the NHL that was as good as they are for CFL/NFL they'd be my go-to place for Montreal Canadiens content instead of Sportsnet/TSN.

It is what it is I guess.

This coming season is a pivotal year for Slaf. He should go north of 65 points and stay above that for the next 10 seasons. OR, if he starts on the wrong foot again , be a career 50 points player and under. Less partying in the Summer and better prep could be his way to go. He is already paid accordingly.

Especially with Xhekaj pushing for 1 LW..

For real I hope he’s partying though, it’s what life’s about.
