Player Discussion Juraj Slafkovsky Discussion

I also have the feeling that Habs management was not very enthusiastic that , some of their younger players go there either.
Maybe they prefer them to have a preset offseason training monitered by our developments teams and not go to the worlds get hurt and miss the offseason .
I much prefer Slaf staying away working on his skills and strength. Celebrini is a high skilled forward which is a completely different animal with a quicker development arc.

Slaf loves Slovakia. That's his country. Played many competitions his national team.

Refused to play at World Championship to boycott the Slovakian federation. There's issues with them. Unprofessional, scandals, etc.

And the NHL has no issues?

Do you think the Canadiens would have any problem getting back max returns on any of the players they've signed long term right now?

Sign Hutson for as long and cheaply as you can. Same with Demidov. Avoid RFA bids, avoid the drama, mitigate the inflation risk.
Lol,what is it with so many of you blokes? it's like yall are incapable of answering straight forward questions. Reckon it's not all that unexpected considering though.

Don't bother,just you folks do you folks.lol
Your comment that the Habs have been rubbish since the mid 90s is mostly true. But that doesn't mean the young players we've assembled now aren't worth locking up long term. This is the best collection of players we've had in a long, long time.

The 2010 group should've been better than it was. MB came in and promptly screwed everything up. That could obviously still happen here. But as of now, the mgmt team has done a really good job putting things together. Just because we were 'rubbish' for a long time doesn't mean we can't be great again. This team was the best team in professional sports for almost a hundred years before we blew everything up.

All that matters is selling and they do a great job at that. Building a team to challenge is a very different matter and they haven't gone about it the right way for a long long time and the jury is still out until they prove it otherwise.

Sure. But you shouldn't just measure results. You should measure the actions. You can do everything right and still not get the right result.

This mgmt team has done more than any other in recent memory to achieve the desired outcome. Now we may not get the outcome we wanted but they are at minimum putting us in a position to succeed. We are eons ahead of where we were when MB left.

So when you say we've had decades of incompetence I don't think too many will disagree. But this management group hasn't been here for decades. They've only been here a few years and they've done a good job in that timespan. And locking up players like Slaf to long term affordable contracts is a very smart idea.

Oi! so more than likely the next off season Montreal will be dishing out, conservatively a minimum of 25 for Hutson and Demidov. How high is the cap going? how much room does Montreal have left with Suzuki, Caulfield, Guhle, Slafskovsky already locked in for a long term? still a 23 man roster right? I reckon the management group are banking on what they are doing is the right way. However which way it goes as long as the fans are pouring in is all that really matters as they have been rubbish since the last millennium and seats and merchandise are still a hot commodity. It's always grand when you own a cash cow isn't it.lol
25m is not really the conservative estimate, but to actually answer your question 113.5m is what the NHL said the caphit would be when Demidov is no longer on his ELC. And we have both Anderson + Gallagher's contracts coming off the books the answer to how much cap room does MTL have is more then enough to sign those two for 25m + add another big contract.

What the f***?? 25 M$ for Hutson and Demidov? LOL

1st, Hutson will be making between 9 and 10M$

2nd, Demidov won't be making the same as Hutson unless he is the most productive forward next season.

It will be max 20M$ for both.

the habs now have nothing to do with the habs of before, strange you cant see that.
They were a few billion company ran lke a corner depaneur, since MB they being ran like a Multi billion team, with many posts added, successful pro like hughes have been hired and not a few blokes that just played hockey and had a fox hole.

they may succeed or still fail. but one thing i am sure about, they are not run the same way.and thus historicaly saying they did that or not, is not aplicable
