Player Discussion Juraj Slafkovsky Discussion

Big hits and dirty plays are flashy, it's entertaining and viewers want that.
Smart two-way board play using your size and reach, that's less flashy and less entertaining. But that's what wins cups.
We should be ecstatic about Slaf progression these playoffs.
First game he seemed tentative, letting Suz and Caufield hustle for pucks.
Second game he was more assertive, but they still lost. He was clearly unsatisfied with the result.
Third game he's one of our best player.
Perfect. And despite that tentative 1st game he still factors heavily on both our goals.

That’s the kind of baseline he can offer he has so many facets to his game, even on an off game he can still find ways to contribute.

Very few comments or commentators indicated that Slaf was done with his development. Seems like you're chasing shadows.
Well, you made me do it:

Incidentally, a player's not being a finished product also means he could simply not improve. Improvement isn't guaranteed. Kostitsysn, Galchenyuk, and others never improved.
We can agree on that. I am optimistic about Slaf. You don't have to be, it's your choice.

Shots on goal are important and it's good that he's shooting on goal, in my book there is no higher praise than comparing a big powerful forward to a sasquatch but if you think we should get his name tattooed on our foreheads to prove that we're happy with his performance in playoff game 3 I invite you to do it first.
Seriously? This kind of hyperbole is not helpful. Did I say anything like that?

I don't believe the highlighted portion is a fair comment. You and I can agree on this, sure, but many others disagreed with any criticism levelled at Slaf at several points this season. It made for an insufferable discussion. It's been three years of this and ongoing.
Yeah, I have seen you torching that poor strawman to death many times.

Where are the people that were whining like crazy after ONE period into his playoff career???

This was ridiculous then, even more now. Slaf is not a perfect player but he's hugely valuable even when not scoring.
His first two games werent good. No need to rewrite history. Be glad hes been pretty amazing in the last two.

I keep saying it but hes a different player when Xhekaj is in the lineup.

He may just be Fabian Xhekaj.

Oh I agree they weren't good. But the whining was over the top given the short sample and that its kinda normal for young players to struggle out of the gate in the playoffs. The struggles didn't last long thankfully.

I keep saying it, put him with Demidov and that's instantly our new first line. Those two will have insane chemistry.
Someone like McDavid between them would be ideal. :naughty:

Seriously though, I wonder what type of centre would fit best with those two. Another Suzuki would be great, but that's asking a lot.

He didnt struggle because he didnt have the skillset though. He just wasnt there.
Our 2 goals don’t happen without him with game 1. So not the greatest game but still made things happen.

2nd game he has more chances than anyone on his line.

Not bad for bad games if you ask me.

Can someone post the video of the dekes he made in the 3rd period, just getting over the Caps blueline into their zone?

Always him can be right. Even when Slaf says something that he doesnt like himself, he says "Slaf need to talk less", if it doesn't fit his narrative.
This is the most disingenuous of all the puke worthy posts recently. I've seen this take now a lot from the usual crew 'Slaf said he can play better so I was right all along.' Absolutely pathetic levels of desperation to seem right and the funniest part is everyone sees through it and is laughing.
