Player Discussion Juraj Slafkovsky Discussion

And the key word is ‘might’. I think Slaf has elite/near elite production in him while also bringing all the other things.

Again, I’d credit him with playing a role on 3 goals this series where he didn’t even get a point. 2 of them in the first game where he was getting called out more than just about any other player
Even though 2C is a massive hole, I don’t think the Habs make the playoffs with Cooley instead of Slaf. Having that dominant 1st line all season really propelled the team. Having two good lines instead likely doesn’t have the same effect.

SLAF TO WILSON 😭😭😭

I really can’t say because I haven’t seen enough Cooley to be anywhere near objective.

But even Slaf’s baseline just fits too well with this team and especially that line. I’d wager heavily it’s easier to get the 2C we need than a Slaf level prospect.

I’d argue that Caufield and Nick don’t take the next step in their production without Slaf digging pucks, screening the goalie, and his defensive zone transition pass.

His size has created so mud space for Nick and Cole and it’s 100% under appreciated

Suzuki has been a one man show in the last 12 or so games. Absolutely magnificent. And he’s been good in the playoffs. Two clutch goals and typical solid play.

But CC and Slaf have really stepped it up, especially last night. They had amazing chemistry together. I can’t believe the give and goes they had going on. And they’ve had a few of those this series.

He’s certainly not a mere passenger.

When people were suggesting Demidov takes Slaf’s spot, you’d have to take into account how much CC and Suzuki would appreciate that move. I’d have to think not that much

Slaf becoming underrated.

Even if he tops out as a 60pt winger, he’s going to be regularly throwing out 200+ hit seasons. There’s only a handful of guys out there like that and you absolutely need them to win.

For what it’s worth, he’s out produced Tkachuk in his 19/20yr old seasons. I don’t think 60points is his ceiling, I think he will peak around 70-75 and closer to 70pts regularly in his prime.

Aside from the fact the rhetoric can be annoying, it comes down to a small handful of posters, that don’t value the type of player he is. It’s all about perceived hockey sense and production. He has none. And if he has none, he’s insignificant compared to those who do.

They also don’t value his physical play. For them, it’s not even physical what he does. To them physical seems to be a whole other thing he doesn’t do.

If he played a certain style he himself wouldn’t be so confused.

If he plays like a Slafsquatch he would have all the support imaginable. Hopefully from this point on.

I don’t think he’s confused. He’s a physical forward that helps the team win. He meets my standards of what physical is, he doesn’t meet yours. And even if he did, he doesn’t produce enough for you. I’m satisfied with his production.

You want him to be a different player and I don't like that player. He's 6th in the league for SOG in the playoffs. Causing havoc wherever he goes. We know his style since a long time.

He is clearly confused, he himself called his season embarrassing twice over the past regular season and he was on the verge of tears after game 2. He's referred to many other players in comparison to himself. He has not yet been able to play a consistent way, and much less to do so consistently.

His production is a function of how he plays -- if he's actually going to be a trenches, N-S, powerful forward type then expectations are different than if he plays as a Euro-style playmaker.

I'm glad you're satisfied with 50 point seasons that embarass the player himself, and I won't try to change your mind. I think he can be a very effective 50-60pt player or a very effective 70+pt player but he's not there yet. Or maybe he is.

He's doing fine. Your posts are confusing. Embarrassing to be honest.

And you won't try to change our mind? But you're going to keep trying to change our mind?

You were wrong since day 1 bro.

He has 19 shots, 10 hits, 1 goal in three games and his physicality helped the Habs score three other goals in the series.

Anyone saying he isn’t playing is just completely unrealistic

Go and compare big players' production at 20 and 25 and you'll see there's a marked difference between those two ages. Players like him that have 50 points at 20, have more than 50 points at 25. I won't deny him the same production curve that I project for everyone else.
