Player Discussion Juraj Slafkovsky Discussion

Ah, so he can only be critiqued based on certain official approved criteria?

Slaf has X amount of points at Y age therefore we're not allowed to talk about Z?

I wasn't aware there were rules to this.

I'd love to know what we're allowed to critique him on, please share.
He’s not saying you’re not allowed, he’s saying if you just keep wilfully ignoring said context it makes the content of your criticisms kind of worthless.

The kind of wilful ignoring and straw manning you did in this very post for instance as well as your ‘sunshines and rainbows’ posts below it.

Slaf has been playing well. People who are saying otherwise, I question if they actually watched the game or if they just wanted to observe through jaded lenses.

There are a couple of people on the team who can get criticized for their play, Slaf was not one of them
If he's playing well then we don't have the same definition of well because jesus that's simply not it

Just for future reference, when Slaf does actually have a great game or games (which should likely be tonight, given that it's game 3, Bell Center, playoffs at home).

Please spare the "OMG I told you so's" because, if anything the people who are actually being realistic about Slaf's current play should be the ones saying that to you.

We know he's still very young, we also know he's going into his 4th season, and we know based on the flashes we've already seen, we know he can do better, we know he can go a gear, or two, or 3 higher and bring out the beast and unleash that. He still at times plays too passive, too timid, he still floats around, some bad decisions, etc, etc, etc.

So when that day comes, please remember while you were supporting mediocrity and the status quo, we were supporting the pursuit of excellence.

Nope. Nice try.

A bad critique is a bad critique.

Have a take, don't suck. If your take, or critique, sucks, it sucks. Pretty simple.

Nope. Points are just one of many data points.

As is his age.

Both are part of the context your poor critique fails to consider.

Bad take is a bad take.

Not a rule as far as I'm aware, just common sense. Not so common for some I suppose.

But, I'd offer that adding a bit of common sense to your perspective by applying basic context, might allow you to enjoy this young talent playing for our team rather than being unnecessarily frustrated... But you do you, I ain't here to moderate anything, they are the only rule enforcers.

Slaf should model his game around Anderson rather than Kachook, or whoever he is modelling it after right now.

Play big young man, play like you are 6ft3 & 230lbs.

No thanks... Last thing we need from him is to be a 14min/night, 30pt bottom 6 player

No fear of that though, it's not like Slaf is going to regress from his current level... Remember his age ;)

I think Slaf will figure this out when he gets older, by 24-25 for sure (hopefully)

About 40 seconds before Habs 3rd goal tonight, he actually had a halfway decent body check on a Caps player against the board, his best hit all night, IMO. Wanna see more of that.

I fully agree that by 24-25, we'll be seeing the start of his prime...

But I'd bet it's more a Rantanen than an Anderson type of game we see from him.
