Player Discussion Juraj Slafkovsky Discussion

“I thought (Saturday) night, even though he only had one assist, might have been the best game Slaf has played,” Hughes said. “What we’re seeing of him now, I feel he’s finally, for the first time, really understanding how he needs to play to be the most effective version of himself. I expect that when those elements of his game become so consistent and so natural, there will be another level of development for him. When he can check the box that it’s natural and he doesn’t think about it, we can still add to his game from there.”

embarrassing that it took SO LONG for him to figure this out. he's lucky he's turned his season around in the twilight of his career at age 20.

Trust the process... At some point, hopefully the PTSD that drives so many impatient & emotional hot takes will subside.

Slaf’s embarrassing season is being undone — good for the Habs and good for Slaf. What a shame he sucked for so long and cost the Habs valuable points. He must not disappear in the playoffs like he does in the season. It isn’t fair to his team or the fans that this hulking skilled beast chooses to not try. I’m glad he knows he can do better and is showing it.

Those of us who weren’t pathetic about and afraid of calling it what it was were vindicated when Slaf repeatedly emphasized his season was an embarrassment. Now we will happily cheer his success without resorting to ToldYaSo or “serving crow” — there’s no point.

Slaf had to play better and now he is.

He is still a big doubt because he sucks for half the season and those matches matter just as much (if not more) in determining the tone of a season.

Until he confirms he is a reliable player, if not consistent, he will be a disappointment. You can’t rely on inconsistent, unreliable players no matter how badly some of you want to steer and dominate the conversation.

His Liiga stats and your attempt at tone policing are equally irrelevant. Slaf is a Habs player and we all want his success.

Hope this helps

Wow.

This is just shameless.

His age is irrelevant. When he's good he's good, when he's bad he's bad. If he's going to be inconsistent today he will be criticised today. No one (not me anyway) has called him a bust or said his career is washed. We know he's a work in progress but games are played all the same and he was bad (embarrassing) in games this season.

We correctly said he's been bad this season and have been vindicated multiples times over: he can play much much better than he did previously and he's shown it. His age didn't limit him. I'm perfectly satisfied with my takes on his performance because I wasn't in denial of the on-ice performance -- he had too many games with 1 or 0 SoG ffs.

Unfortunately for him he needs to play good hockey and not bullshit lazy hockey. Poor guy. I hope he can endure.
Guess who's back, back again?
ReHabs back, tell the haters
Guess who's back, guess who's back
Guess who's back, guess who's back
Guess who's back, guess who's back
Guess who's back...

What do you mean age is irrelevant ?! Age is everything when it comes to young players. They aren't done developing. We are not talking about a 30 years old vet. You don't know what you are talking or just trolling at this point. You don't even believe in your lies. This is embarassing and pathetic.

The funny thing is Slaf has been on pace for 45-55 points pretty much all season long. There's been ups and downs but people acting like he was dog shit are funny. He had a rough first half with inconsistent play but this is not surprising for a 20 years old kid who just signed his first big contract and had his first good season.

Some posters just don't understand that the real world doesn't work the way a video game does... And get frustrated and cynical when their unrealistic expectations aren't met, the overblown crying and cynicism was never grounded on his actual play

Slaf needs to keep improving his consistency and assertiveness if he wants to hit his full ceiling, which is true of just about all young athletes.

missed the 3rd period and the 200 previous periods before that
What a stupid comment. His line was terrible in the first two periods but the Habs scored five goals in the third and there was mass euphoria among the fans thereafter. However, I didn't see a single reference to Slaf in the PGT. So how did Slaf do in the third period? Simple question.

Stop acting like you're asking questions in good faith lmao, we all know you're here trolling to keep you entertained.

Okay pretend for a moment I'm asking "in good faith" and pause for a moment this cultist behaviour.

If you can't say if a hockey player had a good or bad period you're on the wrong message board.

I missed the third period against the Sens, how did he fare in a rivalry type game?
Slaf had an underwhelming game. Lots of mistakes, Team won so he needs to regroup and play better next time.

Young player up and down is normal. Consistency will come (hopefully)
