He’s playing at what, 225lbs? I’d love to see him come in around 210-215 next year
I was like the only guy out here saying Slafs was way too heavy when he first came in at 240. Jebus Pronger was 220 and he was 6'6". I'm thinking 210 should be good.
I think his playmaking is actually pretty impressive. But I agree with your overall point. He needs to go to the net. We don’t have enough guys who do that.
So he needs to go digging for the puck, win the board battles, make plays, drive the center of the ice, block the goalie's view, deflect shots, hit opposing players... Anything else you need the 20yr old kid to do? I mean if so when are Suzuki and Caufield gonna lift up their end of the couch?
That's almost certainly not true of most star forwards.
He's 20 and BIG. Those guys take time to develop.
Cap is going up, much of that contract will include prime years… under eight? Yeah, I’d definitely do that deal today.
That contract will be from 21 to 29, a good bet in my book.
There is a reason why agents use cap % now into negotiations
Sure they can try but a GM doesn't have to agree to those terms. Look at Guhle's sweet contract.
Someone mentioned him and Arber spending lots of nights out on the town. Do we know if there is any truth to that?
Everyone knows Arber and Slafs are good friends but that's far less problematic than the Caufield - Dvorak duo. I hear those guys are wild.
I also think he needs to protect himself better. Rarely saw a 230lbs guys getting rock by smurf like Ghostibere, Rossi and Greig.
We still talking about that period? He's gotten a lot better at that.
People said the same thing about Nick Suzuki when he signed his extension, how's that looking now?
I can't believe the Athletic said Suzuki had one of the worst contracts in the NHL.
*smh*
You seriously think Slaf is an upcoming 10m player? I mean let's all be reasonable now
Imagine we'd signed him for a 2yr bridge, so he reasonably gets 60pts next year and around 70 the year after. What do you think a 23yr old big bodied 65-70pt gets in 2-3yrs?
I don't actually believe that leagues f**k up players.
Well I believe bad coaching/development can. No one will make me believe that the Lefebvre/Therrien combo didn't make us lose out on a player or two.
