Exactly.

What is a great trade Hughes has made to date?

I am willing to give him time to cook, but Bergy has made some good trades (and not so good).

Hughes trades so far overall are quite meh overall.
Vanek , weaver & Weise (short term), danault, Suzuki, Petry were all huge wins from berge. Probably forgetting a few too.....Drouin trade was his only bad one in my opinion.

Good strategy or not he got the results.

I mean, it’s so early right. The inconsistency at this point is okay. We can say it’s a natural part of development. Hopefully he finds consistency as he matures.

If he’s still like this at 23, then it’s a problem.
I believe in him too but next year will be his 4th season. He better start showing it soon

Lafleur figured it out in year 4, MacKinnon in year 5. Slaf isn't near that level but a future 70 point winger is in the cards. He is too talented, too big not to succeed.

I would like to see him increase his foot speed a little bit more but yes, he was projected to be a second line winger and 70 points is very possible.

He got a first coming and going for Monahan

He got Hutson for spare parts

Matheson

Petry coming and going

The Dach trade was great but injuries got in the way.

Got paid to take Laine

Traded away vets for futures. And Lekhonen landed us Hage.

And take notice of something here. Almost all his moves have beeen for picks/prospects. We have one of the deepest pools in the league right now. With MB there was no direction, here there very clearly is.

You forgot the Heiny Man!

Regressing again since the Ottawa game. He just can’t help himself unfortunately
He is still making wrong reads on the PP like Galley mentioned when the duo of Hutson/Suzuki have the puck up high going behind the net is USELESS. WTF Time your curl out in front and let those players get the puck to the net. How the hell is going behind the net going to free up Laine. This is basic stuff.

I think he's slowly getting back to where he was last year but still a ways to go.

I really want him to just be more selfish and stop looking to pass it the moment he gets the puck. I feel like he's rarely in a stance where he's threatening to shoot the puck.
Got a chance right in front of the net tonight and another one where Suzuki missed the rebound after he took a shot on net.

😂 nice troll
Not intended. I just don’t see the physicality and think that aspect of his game has been slowly diminishing since the Ottawa game.

That game was probably the best game of his career. I understand you can’t play like that every single game, but the lack of consistency is worrying, for me at least.

I don't think it would be unfair to say he hasn't had many games like that in his whole young career: 8 hits (career best) and 5 SoG.

In games he's recorded 6 or more hits: 5gp 3pts.
In games he's recorded 5 or more hits: 12gp 6pts.
In games he's recorded 5 or more shots: 10gp 11pts (!)
In games he's recorded 4 or more shots: 15gp 14pts (!)

He needs to shoot more and move his feet to get into shooting positions more often, his big hitting games are not particularly relevant... he is not a power forward so he should lean into his shooting and playmaking ability..

Additionally, it seems a bit odd his giveaways have doubled and his takeaways have halved. Is he chasing the hit too much?

He led the team with 5 hits and added 4 shot attempts, 2 shots on goal, 1 block and just 1 turnover. Playing less than 16 minutes that is pretty OK.

I think things are quite different if Dach is healthy and back to form. Just typical Montreal bad luck. That said, they don't finish 5th if Dach isn't injured and we don't get Demidov. The issue right now will be to add some depth, but especially a center. No idea how they'll do that though. I do feel they didn't manage the preseason/early season well. A but of tinkering last summer and this team is in the playoffs right now.

If Dach had been able to start the year playing the way he did in December we’d have had a much better year. That 2nd line was our biggest issue. Nobody expected Dach to be that bad.

I also wonder if the team should’ve maybe given him a few games rest down the stretch. The team was clearly burnt out with the accelerated schedule. Maybe a few days extra rest might’ve helped.

Has there been anything on when he hurt the knee again? Was it a hit or just him running it down?

As for Slaf, has any player benefited more from the time off? What a world of difference. This is what most of us were expecting this year. Too bad it took 60 games for him to get there.
