Obviously loved this game last night, like everyone else.

Hopefully he can find that consistency he is talking about.
yeah that's the guy we want more of, and he just teases us once every 10 games. Maybe he hasn't found the right weight for that big frame and needs better advice, I have issues with our medical/training staff for these reasons. Didn't he gain a bunch of weight/muscle over the summer? Wonder why and who advised him to do this.

The kid does seem way too hard on himself by calling his season an embarrassment.

His linemates were saying he could be a top 5 winger in the game. I think that's the kind of standard he has for himself. He's still likely to get 50 points in an "off" year. His second and third years look similar production wise to Brady, but less goals. It's not all bad, but when you see how good he can be like last night, it's easy to be disapointed.

A bit, but at the same times if he can use that as a motivation, good for him. Some people sulk over that kind of pressure on themselves and other thrives. At least he's able to be critical of his play and know how he needs to play (more physically and more involved) so that's reassuring.

Montreal Canadiens forward Juraj Slafkovsky is proud of his performance in Saturday's victory over the Ottawa Senators, but he thinks he needs to make an impact more consistently to improve on what he views as a disappointing campaign.

"I feel like this season is an embarrassment from my side," Slafkovsky told The Athletic's Arpon Basu. "After the ending of last year - 30 games, 30 points - and then I come out here, and playing like junior hockey and not doing anything.

"I've been thinking about it for two weeks that I've got to change something."

Slafkovsky registered a goal, five shots, eight hits, and a spirited fight with Ridly Greig in Montreal's return from the 4 Nations break. He hopes to use the game as a blueprint moving forward.

"I want this to be my standard every night," Slafkovsky said. "I've just got to do it again."

He added: "You see that it's working, and you just want to keep that. Just have to translate it to next game, because that's been an issue this year."

Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki, who is Slafkovsky's linemate, said in January the former first overall pick is "definitely too hard on himself" when assessing his performances.

Slafkovsky's notched eight goals and 22 assists in 53 games on the campaign, putting him below last season's pace of 50 points. His average ice time (16:52) is also down a full minute from last year.

Montreal is five points back of a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.

He doesn't project that at all, unless you are going off of one game, but it would be a great player to have.
I meant in the mold of being a big physical forward who can produce in the 60/70 range, then yes, I think he project to be that. He can and will get stronger, he already hits a lot and his offensive output can increase to around 60-70 from his current 50 pace so I don't see how you can say he doesn't project to that at all.

now LG has to go argue with Slafkovsky that Slafkovsky is good actually :sarcasm:
Nah. He's been disappointing. Has anyone said otherwise this year?

But he hasn't been bad. 50 points is pretty good for a 20 year old player. The problem is that we all know he can be better.

as much as I find this kid infuriating those quotes make me happy for him! Acknowledging the issue that clearly is a big thumbs up
I find he talks a little too much. His comments on Tkachuk's the other day too. Chris Higgins used to have these kinds of quotes too and it didn't end well.

Just let your play do the talking.

I thought they made him lose weight?. Anyways. He needs to be heavier. Strength is more important than speed for him and in your mid-20s you can carry a lot of weight without it affecting your speed. See Bufygulien.

Byfuglien was just a freak of nature.

That man was definitely north of 300lbs and moved like someone who weigher barely over 200lbs.

Future is bright 😎

Only question is what kind of consistency will he max out at... Those frustrated that his consistency "isn't there yet" seemingly forgot or didn't experience what it means to be 20-21-22 years old lol

i thought he came in 20lbs of more muscle? not sure, doesn't seem like they have him dialed in

Yes, he's comments can really bite back if he don't deliver

No, he actually lost weight. He was 230 last year and was around 215-220 when he came back after the summer.

A couple games in a row now that he’s made plays leading to a goal and he doesn’t get on the scoresheet with an assist or goal (for those that just check stats). Yesterday he made a play leading to the Caufield goal and the game before he was able to push Hedman out of the way allowing Gallagher to get to the puck and score. Hopefully he’s able to keep this play up to finish the season, giving him confidence heading into the offseason.

Those type of plays are not lost on teammates or coaching staff, I'm sure he heard about.

If you want to constantly crap on a player on a message board, regardless of the circumstances, you'd better be prepared for the inevitable backlash when that player does something worthy of praise. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. Crying about getting tagged in a post has got to be the "Charmin Soft" play of the year.
