Wonder if it makes sense to put there for every team 1-2 players that just haven't fit well this year and see what other teams have out there and if there is a swap that makes sense? Sometimes change of scenery can help.

The Leafs have 2 that come to mind

Simon Benoit - physical, hits quite a bit but defensive metrics aren't as strong this year compared to last. He's relatively cheap at 1.35M and 2 more years after this.

Max Domi - He's played a lot of centre where he's probably not suited, his speed is still good, stands up for teammates and has excellent passing ability, almost to his detriment because he does not shoot enough. He earns 3.75M and has 3 years left on this deal. He's ideally in someone's middle 6 on the wing.

Are you looking for cap relief or assets?

I guess it would go by team and which one, I think Benoit is probably like a 5th-7th round pick, they have Rifai in the minors who could take his role.

Domi could be apart of a bigger deal or just a swap for another player that hasn't worked out elsewhere.

People could post their own team and 1-2 players that haven't exactly worked out the last 1-2 years and after a while, it would be neat to think about trying to find different fits for players.

It is basically armchair GM stuff

What I think is junk and what the Flyers FO appears to think is junk are very different, but the two obvious suggestions:

Nic Deslauriers - 34, $1.75M, expires after next season - Punch McFace. Plays 4th line when he plays at all, has drawn in for all of 61 minutes of hockey this season (10 games, 6:13 TOI average). Career high - 15 points. Career highlight - Punch. Apparently a good team guy, looks more at home in an Eagles jersey than a Flyers one. Would take either an expiring guy, or a younger, cheaper guy on a similar or longer contract. Whoever we get's not drawing in anyway.

Erik Johnson - 36, $1M, expiring contract - Apparently we're not allowed to hire enough coaches, so he's the designated Assistant Defensive Coach. 22 games this year, 1/2/3 stat line, he's there to help us avoid having (horrors!) multiple young defensemen on the ice at the same time. Would happily take a 7th for him, or a sub-32 year old version of him with a slightly longer contract, so they don't get any bright ideas about signing another walking corpse for the role this offseason.

Domi for Gallagher.

Make him part of a trade for Scott Laughton. I want to watch that response.

*monkey's paw curls*

Buffalo receives:

C Scott Laughton
D Rasmus Ristolainen

Philadelphia receives:

C Peyton Krebs
D Mattias Samuelsson
Rights to swap Philadelphia's 2025 1st round pick for Buffalo's 2025 1st round pick; if not executed, Philadelphia receives Buffalo's 2025 2nd round pick.
