How come when it comes to anything North America you guys always have to bring out the arrogance card anyway?

Excellent question. No need for that, really.

it's a bull**** nothing tournament, there is no high prestige involved in it where anyone would be compelled to send a team to it, for gods sake.

...

Um.

I guess you answered your own question right there. We can call your post "self sufficient" as it were.

I remember back in 14-15 an MHL All Star team came to the US near Christmas time. They played the then AJHL (Atlantic Jr) all star team and if i recall it was an even game. They also played a few D1 teams and got hammered by 6-7 goals by all of them. The CCHL team will fare just fine over there I think

Russia - Canada U20 superseries is mostly CHL vs MHL. In Canada. On the small ice. And games are pretty even in the last 5 or so years. So AJHL = CHL.

Except its not CHL vs MHL, theres very few MHL players in the super series. Its mostly KHL, VHL, and CHL Russians. So no, AJHL does not = CHL

We have a schedule and a logo of the Canadian team. The city of Sochi & its arena Shaiba (Sochi Game 2014) to host it.

note:
ГРУППА А = Group A
ГРУППА Б = Group B
АВГ = August

If memory serves me right, despite being labeled the 'Russian stars' or whatever they were, those guys weren't an all-star team. It was just some random select squad.

And getting railroaded by the NCAA isn't a big surprise, the same thing would happen to CHL teams. NCAA squads are significantly older than MHL/CHL teams.

You are right about the MHL select team. This tour happened during the IIHF WJC, so logically the best prospects were not there. They played against the NCAA because, IMO, Efimov had contacts there (he studied in the US)

Any idea who is the English announcer?

This year the MHL is doing good marketing job. Nice to see it.

I'm just going to copy and paste what I posted on Barnes in the prospect section:

"Extremely skilled player. Does most of his damage on the power play. Honestly, he's probably a top 5 02 born player with the puck on his stick in the offensive zone.

Can get a little lost 5 on 5, as he likes to control possession at all times, instead of moving the play forward. And though he has very quick feet, isn't the rangiest player.

Really, really fun to watch."

Pretty wild considering that the Ottawa team only took a select number of 2000 birth dates, and no 2001 forwards.

How has the quality of hockey been?

I know it won't be Hlinka Gretzky level but has it been good?

The Hlinka Gretzky is a U18 tournament. The JCWC is a U20 tournament that allows each team 5 U21 players. I'm not going to suggest an equivalence, but the rapidity with which you dismissed them and the implied vast separation I think is probably unwarranted. A team like Loko, I believe, would beat the Russian Hlinka team.

Loko is the best MHL team, with players like Denisenko, Kayumov and Kovalenko amongst all. XV 71 is the winner of Swedish U20 championship. All other teams, I think, are way behind them.
