I don't know why the Rays leaked this. Nobody believes it.

I'd love to know what the Jays actual plan is.

If it's Soto, they're pooched.

I realize Ohtani received $700 million last year but I don't see how Soto would receive $600 million let alone that number. Ohtani was a special case - elite hitter and elite pitcher, albeit with limited starts over the coming years. He is also an international superstar who will draw lots of marketing and merchandising opportunities from another large, first world country overseas. Soto is an elite bat, but from a pretty small, developing country. The marketing and merchandising opportunities for the team that wins will be much more limited than Ohtani. Soto just doesn't have his cache. $500 million...maybe $550 million over...I dunno, 12-14 years seems more likely.

Almost certainly going to re-sign with NYY

NYY has unlimited funding and will not allow him to get away

Cause hes young and one of the best players in baseball.

It would make the most sense, get as much or more money than with the Yankees, with none of the pressure and expectations of actually winning

Hes already got a ring too, so he likely isn't too strung up on if the teams a contender.

Thats just bullcrap leaked by Shatkins and ownership to make it look like they wanna improve the team when in reality they don't care to.
Oh no, they'll improve it. It just probably won't be with any of the big names.

Think guys like Santander or Tanner Scott rather than a Soto or Bergman type signing

So far I've seen the dodgers linked to Willy Adames, Joan Soto and Roki.

That's just disgusting and makes me hope they crash and burn.

Don't see how Juan Soto fits for the Dodgers, they can use that money elsewhere like starting pitching.
Agreed. I think they're going to be linked to him, like they're linked to every big name, but I don't see them as serious contenders for him. I think it comes down to the Yankees or Mets.

Soto to the Mets I can see, especially with Cohen giving out the checks to a player he wants.

When I bought my car, the first couple of meetings I had were essentially to see what's out there, and get a sense of potentially how the market is and how negotiations will go for the ones I take seriously.

The third one was one I didn't really want (I've been wanting a mazda for a long time), but could have taken it depending on how negotiations went. When I had the meeting I told them, if you give me this, this, and this, I will sign the papers now and not take the meeting with mazda. He told me he could do this, that could be negotiated, and couldn't do anything about the other. I met with mazda the next night and bought the mazda.

I wonder if Soto will follow something similar here.

Almost surely Yankees but could a sleeper be a Cliff Lee situation where Washington sneaks in and gets him? They're due for a FA splash at some point I think.
