Miller has a NMC.

He has 3 kids under like 7 years old. He likes to hunt, fish, play golf, drives a pick up truck and is commonly seen wearing things like “back the blue” hats, etc.

there is literally zero reason Canucks trade Miller to NY if all we're going to get is Zibanejad and a couple of weak assets. Allvin/JR aren't downgrading to get a shitty center.
we have NO deal that involves the rangers. even if rangers dont put schiender/laff on the table.

There is zero incentive for the Canucks to move Miller for Zibanejad. That’s trading a problem at center for a problem at center.

The only way the Rangers make sense as partners is if they are able to plug other holes at defense or wing. Vancouver would only want players like Schneider, K’andre Miller, or Lafreniere back.

Rangers would have to find a corresponding trade somewhere else to dump Zibanejad.
add a third party team. van trades miller+deharnais+hogs for kad schiedner 1st rounder. rangers trade zibs to team C. team C gives rangers some prospect or roster player back done.

What a mess. Especially when either player will control their destination. It really does shrink any return as well, as much as you pretend it won’t. And if you’re Miller right now, do you want any part of returning to NY? He’d go nuts in Buffalo. Would he buy into Columbus? Or is Dallas the destination with Wyatt Johnston in the deal coming back? Yzerman has traded for Miller once before. Canucks would get futures though. Don’t think Vegas would be interested.

Usually this one would have LA written all over it?? Just not sure they want to go all-in again, so soon after PLD?

It really could go several ways. I’ll say Dallas is the landing spot.

No fear, nobody wants that trash anyway.
Has a full nmc doesn't have to plea

No knock on either team just can't see how you would want Zib over Miller inside Canucks management....He's had concussion issues in the past I think and his contract gives him to total control not sure on trade protection in the contract of Miller but seems like a big downgrade in overall play

Miller has a NMC.

He has 3 kids under like 7 years old. He likes to hunt, fish, play golf, drives a pick up truck and is commonly seen wearing things like “back the blue” hats, etc.

The New York Rangers are having a historically bad implosion and look to be on the decline. Even if there’s drama and toxicity in the Vancouver locker room, it looks like NY is even worse.

NY has super high taxes.

Why would he want to waive to go to NYC?

In a vacuum, 32 teams in the NHL would take him. This isn’t like Zibanejad or Trouba where you’re asking him to waive hoping that some team will at least give him a chance. This is a highly desirable player and I can’t think of a single reason why he would want to waive for NYR. Drury can want him all day and all night. Why wouldn’t he want to go to Colorado, Minnesota, Dallas, etc. that actually fit his lifestyle and the team isn’t in shambles. And since he has an NMC, if he wants to simply say “I’ll only go to Colorado” than isn’t Vancouver basically forced to accept Mittlestadt or whatever Colorado offers? As an example, same for any team.

This makes a lot of sense. You’re taking it in the teeth because Vancouver fans want Miller to be cashing in on the lottery ticket. But as you point out, there’s a not a lot of leverage for Vancouver. And injuries to Demko and Hughes making this possibly a lost year also doesn’t help when Miller is 31. Mittelstadt isn’t as good as Miller but is younger and hasn’t had locker room problems.

Something around Mittelstadt seems plausible. Vancouver dumps the potential bad years of his contract while the Avs get the good years along with the risk of decline on the back end. It’s not hard to imagine him waiving to go to Colorado. In Colorado, he wouldn’t need to be the drill sargent. The Avs already have those types of players.

If the Rangers aren’t willing to trade Trochek (does he have a NTC?), then Mittelstadt is probable more appealing than Zibanijad given age and contract.

It really seems like this guy JT Miller has never fit in the Canucks locker room. Hopefully, they trade him because this story is getting repetitive

If Canucks management has the same expectation as their fans Miller isn’t going anywhere.

On top of that Miller doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who is just going to waive his NTC to go to a rebuilding team. On the other side of the coin I don’t think good teams are going to want to take on a guy who is known for disrupting locker rooms. Canucks fans can stop pretending that this is the first time Miller has ran into personality conflicts.

Maybe a desperate team like the Pens or Sens take a chance if they can convince Miller.

The two teams that I’ve long thought would be the best fit for JT Miller are Carolina and Colorado. I feel like he would push either team over the top in the playoffs.

That was my initial reaction. Could it be beneficial for Bedard to have someone like Miller on the team?
If we got him for free, then sure, but giving up real assets for a 32 year-old doesn’t make much sense for where we are in the rebuild, which is still in diapers. And would Miller be happy in Chicago?
