They're both impediments as the NMC really leads into the Salary being an issue.

There are teams that can fit him in with out sending anything (or much) back.

Those teams are almost across the board bad teams. We're talking about CBJ/CHI/SJS's of the world.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but he isn't going to waive to go to those teams.

Better teams are pretty capped out and aren't going to move heaven and earth to add this player. Not now at least.

They can look all they want but they aren't going to get it, especially if they're extra motivated to get something done mid season.
Which is why I think that a Pettersson trade is more likely

Completely Fair, But does not sound like that from the radio hits I am hearing, Seems like Rangers not giving up on the year, and wanna make a big move

None of this surprises me, because we have a numb nuts of a GM who couldn't hack it here as a player and is hell bent on trying to go for it year after year, yet doesn't have the cajones to move real assets at the deadline for impact players.

He consistently scours the deadline bargain bin and that has been his biggest affront as a GM. Now he wants to go all-in when we can't win a game to save our lives and our $11.5M goalie is on IR?

If those facts don't point towards a punted season and a retool, we're in a lot of trouble.

Trading miller instead of pettersson is terrible in the short term probably the right call for the long term but there's zero intensity to petterssons game and I don't see that ever changing.

who cares about intensity, other players that cant score 100 pts can bring the intensity. Not everyone needs to be Jarome Iginla/JT Miller type to be succesfull. A team is made up of all sorts of dynamics.

Easier to find a player that brings intensity than it is to find a 100+ point 2way Centre thats 26 yrs old.

Didn't Miller grow up in Ohio? Maybe he actually would be OK with Columbus and building a team there. Maybe Chicago he would like the idea of playing 1-2 with Bedard. He grew up close to Pittsburgh as well so maybe Dubas tries to pull something off. Maybe Detroit gets in on it.

At this point we don't really know where Miller would be OK going but he doesn't seem like someone who can't adapt to an area. He's played for NYC, Tampa, and Vancouver which are all extremely different in just about every respect.

I know the Canucks don't have to trade Miller right now or at any point. But hypothetical situation for Canucks fans:

If you had to choose would you rather trade Miller for Zib or just have Miller disappear for nothing?

I've only seen the Rangers twice this year but nothing seems like a better return than Zib. Which to me indicates this trade isn't happening.

There is zero incentive for the Canucks to move Miller for Zibanejad. That’s trading a problem at center for a problem at center.

The only way the Rangers make sense as partners is if they are able to plug other holes at defense or wing. Vancouver would only want players like Schneider, K’andre Miller, or Lafreniere back.

Rangers would have to find a corresponding trade somewhere else to dump Zibanejad.

I need to marry the hot chick and win the lottery....
No one’s forcing NYR to trade. When your #2C, #1D and #2D are hurt, you don’t trade your #1C without shoring some of that up. Reports are Drury wants him more than Vancouver doesn’t want him.

A #3D for Vancouver is also not an outrageous ask when they have #5/#6 type guys playing top pairing minute
