I'm not nearly as down on Zibanejad as most others are here. He had 72 points last year and is still on pace for 48 points this year with the Rangers where everything is a mess right now. I'd put dramatically more value in his previous 5+ seasons of being a solid 1C than the one year where everything is a mess and he's struggling.
Miller and Zibanejad are effectively the same age, with Miller being a month older than Zibanejad. Neither guy is particularly young or old. He should be valued as a prime aged top-6 C that's having a down year, not a massive cap dump.

Sure, but the GM called out Pettersson publicly, and Quinn Hughes and Tochett both confirmed the rift with JT and Petey.

You've been trading JT since 2020, give it up man, neither him or EP will be traded in a package that makes us worse meaning they won't be traded

Some of you Vancouver fans are on crack with what they think they’d get in return.
If they trade him mid season, it’s going to be something like Zibanejad+moderate add(s). The salary cap and NMC are hurdles that most teams either can’t or won’t clear.
They should wait until the summer where more teams may be more motivated to move pieces off their roster because at least a few “contenders” are going to end up with shorter runs than they’re expecting to have and will want to change the shape of their roster.

The canucks DO NOT HAVE TO TRADE HIM, he is signed long term, this is why you saying it would cost this package makes absolutely no sense.
He is basically a PPG Center with all this "Drama"
There is nothing the Rangers have except Cuylle that id be interested in. Fox obviously but wouldn’t be a fit with Hughes here.
Calling out a player means nothing and what Quinn and Rick said was so Vanilla and I'm sure could be said about any room in any sport.
The media is doing what it does in Vancouver when the team struggles and it sucks because people live for drama and these threads become littered with BS.
Not saying they will be best buds but for people to think it's as bad as it's being made out to be, are buying into the same shit we've seen countless times here.

In defense of the non-Ranger fans, you guys don’t watch or follow this team, so you don’t know how bad it’s gotten. The team is a dumpster fire, and the single biggest reason is the underperforming vets. They know it, Drury knows it, and everyone else who watches the team knows it. And Drury is already moving to tear those pieces out of the team. Reportedly (by Larry Brooks) with Dolan’s full support.
They don’t have the assets & team worth adding to for a JT Miller trade to make any amount of sense as an “add”. It’d be different if it was being done to get rid of an otherwise immovable contract in a “hockey trade”, but that’s unlikely. Lindgren and Bergen are UFAs. Kreider has only a 15 team NTC and a contract that could be a bargain with retention. A lot of the trade “offers” in this thread are ignoring the reality of the Rangers roster even before you consider the value. I’m not saying that Miller is only worth Zibadejad, I’m saying giving up more just doesn’t make sense.

I feel like the Canucks are getting fleeced there. Big downgrade unless Zib finds his game again. Have a 1-2 center depth of Petterson-ZiB would scare me too. Need some grit.
I’d would try to do a Petterson for Barzal swap before closing on this deal.

Nobody gonna just dump a PPG Player this season and our 2nd best player in the last 3 seasons for nothing.

The NMC is a hurdle. The salary is not. Especially if Vancouver is willing to take back a worse contract (like Zibanejad's). There are a lot of teams with tons of cap space and more with space if they can send salary back.

The Canucks don't have to trade him but the Rangers also don't have to trade for him. The Rangers can easily walk away if the Canucks ask is bonkers, and it seems like both sides here are keen on making changes.
Trying to paint this as the Rangers being super desperate while the Canucks are content on not doing anything doesn't seem super accurate as a third party.

Whoever says that is out to lunch. But he'd probably need to be included in the deal cuz of cap
