Its a bit humorous that some are suggesting Miller receives preferential treatment from the fanbase given that Miller was almost run out of town by this fanbase a couple of years ago.

Miller, while struggling this year, is still at basically a point per game player. Pettersson was at like half of that when he was receiving the bulk of the criticism (but the fans were still being super supportive and chanting his name).

At the end of the day, the players have very different injuries and Miller clearly has something else significant going on beyond just injuries, so any comparison between how the fanbase has treated each player is mostly unwarranted.

i think you just have to accept that there are miller people and there are petey people

and they each have a persecution complex that makes it feel like the entire rest of the fanbase is unfairly cyberbullying their guy

I'm a Miller and a Petey person. I just object to people being called "mentally weak" and "quitters" when they are struggling. That's it. If people were saying that about Miller (and they aren't) I'd be defending him just the same.

I've not seen much criticism of Miller this season anywhere.

Because people actually believe he is struggling with injuries and understand that its causing his mental problems.

This is night and day difference from what EP gets and got. The mental gymnastics people are going through to hold on to their view of EP are wild to witness.

It's still unclear to me. If Miller's absence is sanctioned by the NHL, does his salary still count against the Canucks salary cap?

Miller still produced. That’s the only reason for the difference in how they’ve been treated

He’s been a liability since game 1

If anything, last season was like an outlier if you looked back at this whole career

I like JT but it’s kinda hypocritical for him to called EP a baby when he himself has been arguably worse this season.

It’s not a surprise that the team started to play better after Miller left

Miller at 50% is not a better option than most forwards on this team

JT is my favourite player since he became a Canuck, but Petey and Hughes are right there behind him. I think what some in media and online fans said about Petey was stupid and ignorant, and inhuman.

But JT went through a lot of hate before our new coach came along. Everyone blamed him for everything. That is horsecrap just as Petey being treated the way he has been.

Look, I love Tocchet, he was one of my favourite players growing up. But I blame his generation of macho tough guys for the attitude in hockey today. Injuries are never mentioned as a factor, like ever. Just admit it in the press when a guy is going through something, and cut him some slack. Tocc played when they would play through concussions and life altering injuries. That was stupid. Don't put your players through it. Stop this tough guys dong cry BS. Call an injury and injury and backup your guys in the press when they're going through stuff. He thought JT could handle the benching cause he's tough. Well the mind can break no matter how strong you are physically. End rant...
