Judging from this clip… looks like the team would rather grab a beer with Petey….

I don’t say this to bash Miller… just to say we have no clue about their relationships, and who is closer or better friends/teammates.

WTF? What did i say about Pettersson?

Funny Interview with Quinn Hughes back in in 2019/20

Petey called you a messy guy, what was Elias Pettersson like as a roommate last year? — Emily B.

Me and Petey are really tight so I loved it.
We had a lot of fun together. We don’t have roommates this year in the hotels but I think me and him both miss each other and would want to roommate.

Him as a roommate, sometimes he would ask me like a million questions at night. I would just be on my phone trying to relax and chill and I wouldn’t respond because I was just zoned in on my phone. He would get so mad at me and then all of a sudden he wouldn’t talk to me for like a day, he’s like “Oh, how does it feel now” and that happened two or three times. So I had to be careful with that not to hurt his feelings and act like I’m ignoring him.

But yeah, we had a lot of fun, he’s one of my best friends so we had some good times too.

Are you actually as messy as he says or are his standards for cleanliness too high?

No, I think his standards are crazy high and I mean good for him he’s a really neat and orderly person. I also think we were just on these crazy long road trips like we had a 16-day one and we were sick of each other. We must have been in one of those fights and he just got pissed at me and said that. I gave him a lot of crap after that, though.

Who tells the best jokes and/or chirps on the team? Also, who would be your dream defence partner in the league (other than Chris Tanev or Travis Hamonic)? — Owen C.

We have some funny guys. Millsy’s really funny.
(Brandon) Sutter’s funny too. (Tanner) Pearson’s funny, he says some good stuff on the bench. (Jayce) Hawryluk never stops talking on the bench, it’s crazy. It’s pretty funny we love his energy. (Tyler) Myers is very timely he says some good things that are pretty funny.

We've got a fun group

Trying to divide this team and villainize Miller sucks. They have been through a lot.

We're at the half-way mark of the season. And Pettersson and Miller, who were around the 100-point mark a year ago, are on pace for 20 and 16 goals respectively.

So the equation is pretty simple. If the first half of the season for Miller and Pettersson plays out the same way for the rest of the schedule--the Canucks are a lottery team, pure and simple.

They simply can't win enough games with their two highest paid players contributing every five games or so.

Nathan Mackinnon is a better comparison. Fantastic players tough as nails no nonsense heart on their sleeves competitors.

Kind of guy you have a beer with has character and gives you the straight goods. Definitely a great teammate and leader if your pulling on the rope. Him and Boeser are best of buddies.

Cant be that bad
I don't think literally anyone wants to have a beer with Mackinnon. For one thing, he probably doesn't drink beer.

Maybe he'd grab a nice chickpea puree and kale smoothie.

I dont think the situation is like it is if Miller was a great teammate and leader... I just dont see how.

Also MacKinnon needed Landeskog around to tell him to stfu for them to win their cup.

What the F is Hughes Myers and Tocchet here for then

If you read my entire response I wasn’t trying to villainize miller….

I do think you have made it clear you way prefer one over the other and to a comical point.
I like JTs power game and that he's more intense but i've also been defending Pettersson who is more cerebral and skilled and adamant that we need them both at their bests to be a contender.

I take the GM calling Pettersson out and the play since his contract was signed as a slap to the team. It has me a little concerned when it's not all injury related when you are called out for your preparation maturity and make 11.6.

Both players need to take steps has been my point all along. Prefer Miller "to a comical point"? seems a little wild

Miller needs to just focus on his own game and lead by example on the ice. Clearly he let it get to him and got too involved when he probably shouldn't due to Petey sensitive. Which was the point of that article i posted to show that even "best buddies" Hughes and Pettersson were fighting because of being messy and Hughes ignoring him. Hughes exact quote was "careful not to hurt his feelings"

yes i like JT MIller. He's been an integral part of turning the Benning/Aqua era country club shit show and demanding more from himself and everyone else. He's been value added since he's been here for significant cap space. You don't have his career arc without pushing yourself to get better. I have mad respect for that.

As far as "not villainizing Miller"? You responded to a statement about how i feel about Miller unrelated to Pettersson with a video of "the guys would prefer to go for beers with Pettersson" You angled the conversation that way not me?

The video i posted that is recent was to show that even though Miller has also pushed Boeser and they had some moments they still emerged as close friends. Boeser respects that JT is intense and wants to win and was there for him when Duke was dying. That is not a shitty person and teammate.

Yet Puckmunchkin wants to call him Blake Wheeler and insinuate that he is. Maybe Pettersson wont let JT in to his life and has held a long standing grudge and boxes him out. There are plenty of forms of poor relationship building. Bottom line again is both need to be better and build a bridge

The irony is we don't know all the details but we have good hockey people and teammates supporting both. They look like they are ready to move on and probably have yet.... the media and people here are still wanting to drum up bad blood and keep throwing shade at the other

We would be in such a better place right now if Benning had re-signed Tanev instead of going after OEL/Myers. He fixes multiple issues on the team.

Pretty warm response from Deharnais and Joshua.

I mean the GM straight up said that he expected Miller to return from his leave as a better person and a better teammate.

that was a lie..

Trolling no doubt because;

“First and foremost, I’m very proud of JT for seeking help,” Allvin said. “I don’t know if he said it, but I believe that he’s going to be a better person, better teammate and better hockey player when he returns. And we sure miss him. He’s such an impactful hockey player, and I think we have and [the] league has all the right support to help him.”

Today at practice Miller is asked about the reduction in his ice time, he answers he doesn't know why, he isn't injured, he can play better.

Later Tocchet says Miller isn't injured but the reduction in ice time is to keep the score closer by rolling 4 lines. Winnipeg 6 Vancouver 1, Miller around 13.5 minutes of ice time.

So what is being said there?

One bad thing is how calm Miller took this reduction in ice time, the least in 12 years. Acceptance? Resignation? FU?

on the other hand, him being calm and accepting it is quite a turn from what his personality used to be like.

i sort of worry that he's unable to balance the things that made him a good hockey player before (snarl, in your face, chip on shoulder, etc) with his... newfound zen. he's certainly playing below his standards.

An emotional pendulum. Care too much then don't care at all. If that is the problem. It could be he just waiting for a trade and will not hurt himself. Tocchet's recent negative comment about him could be the team getting very close to a punching the deal.

I like Miller but he was the only dude than manage to piss off zen Horvat and that's quite a feat. It's obvious that the canucks miss a respected veteran player that can keep Miller in check when he jumps the shark. Hughes is captain because he is the best player and good at dealing with the media but he can't do anything about Miller. Myers should step in but he is the kind of guy that does not like to get involved. This is where we miss someone like Bieksa that was funny or mean depending on the situation.

Gotta jettison #9. COMPLETELY checked out and flat out BRUTAL. 40 has been ass too but at least dosnt give up on plays and draws lots of penalties. Going to get 50 cents on the dollar but the cancer needs to be removed.

I dont get it.
When Miller returned to the lineup after his problems Canuck fans gave him an incredible amount of love.
And the way hes played recently its like he didnt care about any of that.
What the hell is his problem
