Or maybe whatever is going on was unknown to team but impacting his play enough to be benched.

In the end, if it's off-ice, I hope he's able to remedy it.

It would be fair to say that Miller has "looked off" for the whole year, with a lot of people speculating that he has been dealing with an injury. While Tocchet made it clear that Miller was not benched because of injury, it should also be made clear that JT has been "off" for a long time now. So no, the benching is not the cause. It might have been the culmination of the issue, which now sees him taking time off.

If something happened in the coaches office after the game, ie it got physical or a verbal argument that crossed lines. Maybe they decided it was best to give him leave.
Personally I hope its a coach/player issue and not something worse like addiction or mental health

I'm not speculating, but there are a lot of personal hardships that come up in life when you're around Miller's age. As you get older, so do the people around you, and it's hard not to let your personal struggles bleed into your workplace.

I hope all is well for him and his family.

Correct not just for that, no. But it could be related.

Could have been a tipping point for Miller who mightbe been dealing with something else going on in his life, presumably.
