Lots of talk going into this game how Jeff Skinner has feasted historically on Montreal. He's sitting at the second lowest forward toi.

In a game where this team is flaccid and disconnected I'd like to see some coaching work to look for a spark. Breaking out The Stack McDavid/Draisaitl who immediately get scored on is not the innovative coaching we've heard complained about with Tippett, Woodcroft and those others that have boldly gone before.

Need more from Knoblauch in this game. And coaching staff need to press the Emergency Button on this listless, ineffective PP

NHL edge has them as the second fastest team.

I think there's something to be said about playing fast vs being fast.
Fast means nothing in the NHL. Jack shit. Quickness means everything. The Oilers had a group of guys who could get in pucks and forecheck quickly with young legs. The 2 stooges Jackson and Bowman clowned them in one offseason. Turned them from finalists to relying on 2 guys again. Idiots.

Mcdavid hasn’t had any puck luck tonight but he is the only one I see tonight that gives a shit
Can’t do everything when the team is playing like shit just my opinion
He has set up more then one play tonight that should of resulted in a goal
I agree, but on the other hand he needs to create looks for himself as well. He needs to be a shooting threat more consistently, especially with the finishing struggles of Hyman

He’s statistically the worst goalie in the league and looks like he’s 5 ft tall trying to make routine saves.

Garbage goalie and not worthy of a fraction of the support he still gets.
cool, this forward group is beyond hot garbage and statistically the one of the worst in the league....and this was supposed to be their STRENGTH

far more concerning

Skating fast doesn’t equate to playing fast unfortunately. And I’m sure the numbers are skewed because of 97 cranking up our average.

I remember when evaluators would bring out a radar gun and a timer to test players straight line speed, which I said was the biggest waste of time in the world because hockey is not a straight line game and it’s also played with that black round thing called the puck.

This oiler team does not play the game fast and hasn’t since game one of the preseason. They play a very collective slow game, which is exacerbated by wanting to pass pucks into the net versus putting pucks on net.

Yep.

Also should be added that the fastest team according to NHL Edge is the Preds.
