I'm sorry but what you be expecting exactly when a top 6 forward and a top 4 dman is injured. Pressbox them and be down 2 of each?

You don't have to pressbox them to set an example. I bet Skinner and RV are regretting signing here now seeing they're on the fourth line while RNH gets to p***yfoot around the top line and top PP unit.

Tabernac!!! Montreal fan??? I think I cheered the most when the Oilers beat the Habs way back in 1980, I even lost my voice!

Tabernac!!! Amateur de Montréal ??? Je pense que j'ai le plus applaudi quand les Oilers ont battu le Tricolore en 1980, j'ai même perdu ma voix !

Bilingual from now on.

Bilingue désormais.

Honestly just go into LTIR already. Stan doesn't understand the cap.

If I am not mistaken they are in LTIR with Kane (see this link - https://puckpedia.com/team/edmonton-oilers) but are inexorably married to the Cap Accrual strategy so they can add at the deadline. They gambled on not getting offer sheeted and decided not to change course when they were offer sheeted so now they will ride and die with Cap Accrual.

With this 11/7 alignment Skinner's basically guaranteed to have ice time with McDavid and Draisaitl anyways, granted Ryan being the third wheel isn't optimal. He'll get his chances though provided he starts to understand the schemes the team is running defensively.

I'm not sure who you mean by RV, but if you're talking about Arvidsson, almost every game he's been with Draisaitl except the couple games Knoblach went nuclear but he was still with top 6 players in those games.

Why aren't they calling up an extra forward? Is it to keep accruing cap?

They are accruing so little now that Brown is up, I don't get it either. With a 5 day break coming after Satruday, I'd have thought it was worth dipping into LTIR for 6 days to have some bodies, especially with a 3 games in 4 nights sequence with travel (albeit the travel isn't too crazy).

Apparently he was up and joking with the medical stuff after the game. He definitely needs to be out, but he made it out better than it looked.

That's good to hear. When I saw that play, I did briefly think it was fortunate that was Nurse as he seem to be able to take that kind of shot better than most. I think any other dman on that play would be out for at least a month. I don't think I've seen such a direct hit to the head since the league started cracking down on as that one.

I think Nurse hasn't had one more many of those kinds of injuries before, so he probably is more able to bounce back as well.

Tremendous accountability there by Knoblauch with Nugent-Hopkins and Bouchard  I will 1000% understand why this group tunes him out when it inevitably happens.
Bouchard this season:
CF 63%
Shots for 64%
High Danger chances for 65%
xGF 63%

Cale Makar:
CF 54%
Shots for 55%
xGF 51%
High Danger chances for 57%

Maybe Oilers should just trade him and go back to the days of Todd McLellan and just go high off the glass and out every play. Ridiculous the hate he gets on here.

That Dermott-Brown pairing......I hope we don't say:

"What happened with those 2 tonight boys?"

'Well....the game began..."

The Podkolzin experiment needs to end. Second line doesn’t score. Leon scores when playing with other players. Good Podkolzon retrieves pucks and such- it isn’t translating into anything.

It's kind of funny how he's essentially providing the same results both underlying and actual as JP used to, but because he throws a hit once in awhile, much of the media seems to love him as a player, while they seemed to hate JP as a player. Wasn't the line always that if you are playing with one of Leon or McDavid, underlying numbers aren't enough. At some point you need to score. Rob Brown at least seems to be barking up that tree.

Habs are really leaky, have given up the second most goals against in the league, so half expecting the usual, one of their plug goalies will play out of his mind, we will outshoot them 54-11 and lose 4-3.

Well no, waiting on LTIR doesn't lose us anything, and going on it right away means we can't accrue cap space.

Better to not.
Sure, but they don't have any space with $1M of a guy who will barely play on the roster.

I know it's only like $225+ difference between Philp and Brown, but Philp at least fills a f***ing role they need.

While I don’t necessarily disagree with you, given the limitations with this roster and call up/send downs, where would you slot them to send message and ensure the team ices the roster best suited to win this game?
