Player Discussion Joshua Roy

Agree to disagree he looked good last year
I think his talent is evident but I don't see him being any better than he was last year. Now, I'd it turns out he can fill a bottom 6 role over the next season or two and contribute how people are hoping, great! But I don't have much faith in him finding another level that lets him become a top6 option. Given his soft slow game I doubt he can earn a spot against the internal competition

Fair enough. In the small sample size of games in this recent call-up, I don't see the lack of hustle you suggest.

Whether or not Roy has a future in this organization is another matter... would tend to agree there. Good chance Roy gets dealt this summer if a trade partner views him favorably.
Roy needs a goal or an assist to help his confidence. If not, one would have to think he heads back to the AHL soon.

Sadly Joshua Roy has elite skills minus the skating needed to excel at the NHL level. I am not sure why he is currently in the NHL other than to truly assess the player. Every year a new group of young prospects arrive and Joshua Roy is missing his chance to prove he can play in Montreal.

After seeing him mumtiple times, I think he’s likely a career AHL player. Rather see Habs call up Farrell and see what he can bring cuz Roy isn’t doing shit at this point. This from someone who was a big supporter but lost all faith in him.

Not so sure about that... He looks to be building confidence each game on this call up stint.

While long term, yes of course starting to see his efforts rewarded/validated by the stat sheet will have an impact, but for now I suspect that if he keeps building on his assertiveness the way he has these past few games, he'll stay with the team.

We'll see how tonight goes. Last game vs a very good Sens team in a tight game until the last few minutes, Roy earned more ES time than 4 other forwards... if he continues to earn ES time like that, I doubt they will be swapping him out to roll the dice on testing out a different AHL option down the stretch unless injury forces a call up.

Beck got his audition, and now Roy and maybe another young player will get a shot soon unless Roy gets something on the scoresheet.

Roy loves Laine according to this Finnish article. Says that Laine is a totally normal guy. Talkative. Comes to him often in dressing room and gives him tips on what to improve. Newhook was mentioned as a similar guy as well.
