Joshua Roy is sent down but Patrick Laine is coming back to play against the Islanders. If you combine both of them it gives you Patrick Roy. 😁

Yeah.

Worst thing we could do. Either you bring him up and play him or just let him be. The team is such a mess right now I don't know why they wouldn't just leave him in Laval. Unless you're going to give him top six time, don't bother bringing him up. Yo-yo'ing him isn't going to help him.
I didn’t understand this call up myself either. Hughes hinted that he wasn’t going to do this kind of move and then they called up Roy. Why not keep Condotta or play Pezz for 3 games? Laine is almost certainly back on Tuesday. Instead, Laval loses 3 in a row without their leading scorer. Really useless move.

It's especially useless because they call him up, play him in the bottom six and give him 10 mins a night. Why bother?

Maybe they were asked to showcase him for a Jiricek trade. It was reported that we were interested. Don't know.

Exactly as predicted. He’s not going to produce. He needs to play with top 6 guys. He’s just one of those guys (like ABB, Hudson, Richard) who has to play top 6, but probably isn’t quite good enough to actually play top 6 on a regular basis. I suspect he’ll be gone next year (unless he’s under contract)

Possible. Not exactly a great showcase giving him 3rd line minutes

I think he's got the talent to be a good top six player. But he'll be a complimentary guy, just like Robitaille was. Robitaille was never the guy driving the play, he was there in the offensive zone with great hands and could score. That's why I thought Roy would be terrific with somebody like Dach. Dach was the playmaking playdriver and they would've complimented each other well. But like I said, everything went to hell...

He hasn't shown anything to stick. Even with this team. So... a) sad - thought he was a good prospect b) back where he belongs - laval.

I was as high on him as anyone else here. I thought we had found a major diamond in the rough getting him in the 5th round. Sadly, now I see why he went unclaimed until we picked him. Then again, hopefully he's a late bloomer a la Kaprizoff but I just don't see it.

I just get vibes of "maybe too good for the AHL but just can't cut it in the NHL"

Imagine making ths kind of statements on a 21 years old late pick.

Listening to you both, you would think Roy was 25.

All I said is that he hasn't shown that he belongs... you disagree? I can't recall a single play during his stint that would make me feel like he should stay with the big club. He was completely invisible at best. And 21 isn't all the young and green these days. He's had enough time both in NHL and AHL to start showing where he's headed... so.. so far not very encouraging. Nothing wrong with that. Laval needs players too.

You said "sad - thought he was a good prospect ". This is not the same as saying he is not NHL ready.

21 is definitely still young and green, not sure what you're going on about.

85 pro games is enough time to show where he's headed?

For the time being, and possibly the rest of the season, it’s better for Roy to play in Laval.

Slaf has 2 goals. He’s been invisible most of the year
He hasn't been great I agree. But he's also been hurt and yo-yo'd all over the lineup. He's been disapointing but alright. Invisible isn't accurate. Inconsistent is a better word. But not all of that is his fault. Usage and health have played a factor.

He's gotta drive the net more and move his feet more. You can't slow down every time you have the puck and always move it. That's Shane Wright shit.

85 is a decent amount... how many if 85 is too few?

Some nights he truly has been invisible. I’ve been really disappointed with him this year. I really hope he rebounds.
